@Take2wheels6 ай бұрын
Great video and explanation. Is there any link between the lockup duty selenoid and the torque converter unlocking issues? I had the code and was able to fix it by cleaning and replacing the battery terminals. Then years later I have the torque converter causing stalling when coming to a stop. Which is apparently an issue with the bearing on those years 'TCs. But I wonder if the solenoid is the root cause of the issue.

Hi, Gary, thank you for this great video. On my daughters 2010 Legacy with he 2.5L, we have codes P2764 (3 times) along with a P0700. I think she has the TR580 transmission? Do we need to replace the entire valve body or is this a torque converter issue?

The lock-up solenoid (green wire) tests good (12.5 ohms). The blue wire tests out at around 5 ohms so that solenoid appears to be bad. Will that cause the P2763 code? Is that solenoid available or will I have to replace the valve body?
@GaryFerraro2 ай бұрын

I ended up just ordering the entire valve body after verifying that the solenoid was bad. This car has 140,000 miles on it and who knows when the next one will fail and I only want to do this job once. Many of the solenoid reviews I've found are poor stating that they would only work a week or less in some cases before failing. Purchasing the OEM Subaru valve body was ~900.00 for parts but by doing the job myself I'm still saving money.

Sure did and I really appreciate all your assistance. I installed the new valve body yesterday. No more codes or warning lights and the car drives great. I salvaged the solenoids that were reading good and I'll keep them as spares just incase one fails on the new valve body. @@GaryFerraro

I placed the old Valve Body on a tarp and drained all the fluid out of it so I could measure it. The fluid was relatively clean so I suspect the CVT was flushed at some point prior to us purchasing the car for our daughter a few years ago. I added back the same amount of fluid I collected which was about 7 oz's. My local Subaru dealer had a new VB in stock so this tells me this is probably a common problem... @@GaryFerraro

Dear Gary: thank you for your excellent videos, they are of great help to me. Query I have a 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5 CVT. 55,000 miles and runs fine. The transmission oil has never been changed. According to the dealer, is this oil for life? Should I change it and can I use Lubegard CVT 68115 oil -1.25 gallon and can I add Lubegard CVT 67010 PROTECT, 32 oz. In my country, Subaru CVT oil costs 90 USD for 1/4 of a gallon and with Lubegard I would spend a total of 1/3 of the value of Subaru oil. Thank you very much for your time and videos. Pedro Cruz. Question. At the start, you said the code was 2763 - high. Yet when you tested the solenoids you showed an open circuit. Does not a fault code of "high" indicate a shorted coil rather than an open coil?

Hi Gary My 2014 Forester XT had P2763 before. I cleared it and drove around a bit and now I have 2762 code and no 2763. Which says lockup duty solenoid malfunction. I was gonna change the lockup solenoid. But wondering if there is some other problem?
@GaryFerraro7 ай бұрын
The 2763 code most of the time is the solenoid, it has always been for me. The 2762 a little hard to diagnose but that may be a valvebody problem

Hey Gary, great video had a question I'd hope maybe you could answer. I replaced the lock up duty solenoid on my 2011 outback ( got the lights and codes then ohm tested it and it tested bad) I replaced with a new solenoid and the lights and codes went away but ended up coming back. This time when I test the solenoids none test bad. Am I missing something? Have you encountered this? I've tested through the harness and even pulled the valve body back out and tested all the solenoids off the vehicle all test good. I can reset the codes but they keep coming back.
