Luckily I bought a case right before the pandemic off of Amazon. There are work hard HD gloves or something like that I can't remember but these are really good gloves. I think they come in green and orange.

My tensioner looked exactly the same on me 02 impreza. Used all metal replacement from the 2010 forester. I used wire brush on pully surfaces

Hi, the set that I used to clean out the thread on the bolt and aluminum piece is called a tap and die set. There are many different sizes for metric as well as standard. So try your best to get one with as many sizes as possible. Good luck

They're okay. Personally I like having a tensioner but I will say they are a decent option that last a while. It is a bit tricky sometimes to install and can be a real pain.

Have you seen the ac compressor actually touching the tensioner when doing a service? That happened with my Forester and the belt broke. Is it OK to drive without the ac belt, since we don't use the ac anyways? Thanks

I have never seen an AC tensioner touching the AC compressor. I can only imagine how that happened. Maybe the tensioner completely failed or the pulley wasn't fastened properly. It is okay to drive without the air conditioning belt. Of course you won't have air conditioning but it does no harm to the system or anything else. I would suggest though if the AC was working when you turn on your defroster it does help quite a bit to get rid of fog in the interior on a rainy day. That is really the only really great thing about the air conditioning other than it cooling the car. But you can definitely drive around without the air conditioning belt. Good luck my friend. Hey, yes you can run it without a tensioner if you get a stretchfield belt that is the appropriate size for your compressor and fully. You can also run it without the belt of course your air conditioning will not work. If you're thinking of running it without the tensioner and the same belt it will not work and you will damage the belt and other stuff in that area.
