The 2019 Subaru Forester is built on Subaru's Global Platform which is similar to what the BRZ is built on: add Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a new Direct Injection engine featuring a 7-Speed CVT, and you get a SUV that drives with agility on our favourite mountain road.
Not as fast as some of the cars we drive up, but certainly handles very well.
*Note: Some videos may have been sped up and some footage are superimposed for "dramatic effect" in our channel.

Ohh....the tyre screeching sound came quite early as same as I driven with my mother in law Subaru Forester too (Prev model), it equipped with Continental MC5, i love the body movement of the Forester, not too much, but went a little bit under too early when i trying to attack some corner during the uphill, but as a SUV i think Subaru did a very good job on handling...

This new one is on a new platform - Subaru Global Platform, so handles a lot better. It is very similar to the Toyota TNGA platform. Remember that Toyota owns a big stake in Subaru, and they developed the GT86 and BRZ together. ANd both the GT86 and BRZ have rear Double wishbones and front Macpherson struts. Need I say more? LOL

Hi, Didier from Australia. Great video and test drive haha. I am just about to buy my first Forester. I'm thinking of a 2019 series due to the extra perks. I will use it 80% of the time on city roads, highways. 20% off road, dirt, wet, sand, but nothing too 4WD. Which tyres would you recommend? Do I need All terrain tyres to take full advantage of the Forester all wheel drive?
@YSKhongDriving
@YSKhongDriving 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Didier, based on your broef, it seems the standard road-going tyres should be good enough. Just try not to go into soft, fine dry sand - any vehicle would be in trouble no matter what tyres they use. For soft sand, deflate the tyres to about half the normal pressure, but don't go too fast. Keep a tyre inflator handy for pumping it back up later. Have fun.

Hello YS. How do you differentiate between Forester and Mitsubishi Outlander ? In term of chassis control, reliability, durability, interior quality, and top speed on highways/ performance, which gives a better confidence in driving & to own one ?
@YSKhongDriving
@YSKhongDriving 4 жыл бұрын
Firstly, the Forester is the latest build based on the new Subaru Global Platform, so it is a much better chassis. The Subaru is also lighter and with a smaller capacity engine, fuel consumption would be better. The handling accorded by the SGP should be superior to the Outlander. Outlander engine is a bit old in design so is not the most fuel efficient.

I noticed that the tyre crunching noise is not so loud in the car you are driving. Did you sound proof it? The Subaru Forester 2019 I bought 3 week ago was as noisy like driving a lorry. Last time, I'm ever buying a Subaru car. Should have bought a Honda CRV or Toyota Cross Over Yaris.
@YSKhongDriving
@YSKhongDriving 2 жыл бұрын
The car we tested was a new car from Subaru, without any modifications. Tyre noise will depend on the tyre tread, and also to a large extent, the road surface. Most vehicles in this category have some soundproofing materials but the tyre noise is something that cannot be avoided.

Shame that they no longer have the Forester XT Turbo, which did share its engine with the WRX, else it'll be a rocket of a crossover. (Although for here anyway, that would definitely drive up the prices beyond what the average C segment crossover would cost. So I do somewhat get why they don't offer it anymore.) Also I think many have criticized the 2019 Forester, its design isn't too interesting, I do somewhat agree. But it seems to handle nice though being a crossover, engine seems adequate enough too.
@YSKhongDriving

Motor Image ought to consider producing CKD turbocharged models here to bring down the price. The previous turbocharged models were all CBUs and costly (not that there's any value addition when it's a CBU, but we're just paying unnecessary extra taxes and duties).

@@calvinteoh5660 Even that, we're not going to see the turbo Forester XT anymore, since Subaru completely dropped off this variant for the 2019 models globally.
