Great Day Out, I learnt a lot, especially where my car does well with TC but falls well behind with no lockers. Thanks for the invite, was great to meet you guys and see that Hill dominated in person, Still blows my mind how it rolled up that slope so easily at the start. Great Video buddy!

Awesome video, they're some pretty epic tracks! Great watching how the SH compares to the SGs.

Max respect sending it and showing how far these things can go with some well thought out mods. Low centre of gravity of the foz is ideal, curious to see if a sway bar disconnect (removal) would help or hurt. I think I'll stick with my Jimny either way.

Awesome! Bet you were glad you didn't have anything on the roof this time. Can't imagine what you'd do with lower gearing and a front locker.

Probably break more stuff 😂 I would be so happy if I could get proper low range and a front locker!

you need that new 3;1 transfer case for those they tested the tcase at the vegas to reno race it was the only subaru to ever finnish the race it bolts on to the back of the trans and replaces the stock transfer gears
@SubaruOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
I would be super tempted if it bolted to the back of a 5spd but being only on the 6spd the cost of the conversion makes it an instantly expensive mod...
@ferp4202 жыл бұрын
@@SubaruOffRoad last i herd they were testing it on the 5 spd i dont remeber the year range though personaly i like the brz trans to tcase combo so much cheaper but thats alot of fab work so its a trade off
@SubaruOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
@@ferp420 is the BRZ thing a separate transfer case and front diff arrangement? Part of the challenge of wheeling the Subaru is it keep it as Subaru as possible. The separate front diff is a line I am trying to to cross. As far as I am aware they are not doing a 5spd one yet. It should be compatible with all 5spd boxes as they are all the same.

@@SubaruOffRoad something to do with the output i havent followed his posts in a while so i dont know how the 5 speed is coming along yet the brz is a rwd trans to a devorced tcase of some kind ether nissan or susuki is easyest to find then add a rear diff up front next leval sherbert there personaly i plan on using a doubler box in to a d18 tcase on my 98 ob its already sittin on 32s i have everything but the brz trans already sittin here also a few old gl5spd dr trans layin around but not enuff gear reduction for what i want

Have all the CVTs been swapped for something more fitting rock crawling on these rigs? I’m astonished you haven’t melted one on these kinds of trails.

Red Hill. It's off the northern side of Toodyay Rd near the old quarry. Unfortunately we spotted a new no 4wding sign on the way out so it looks like this will be our last trip there. Such a pity as its a sweet little spot close to Perth.

The silver is an auto and I think would get pretty warm. The red is a manual so probably not that hot in the scheme of things.

I found out on an offroad outing just after this was filmed my clutch packs in my auto trans were on the way out, and the Transmission was just slipping big time. It had me perplexed at the time why it wasn't climbing pretty basic stuff I was used to ( 1 minute 40 seconds to 5 minutes in this video ), I kept trying the same lines I usually take and it didn't even want a bar of it. In two of my videos after this I show that it almost completely fails and my forester has been off the road since october 2022 getting EXTENSIVE upgrades and modifications. Even though with the manuals having the stop start dance of clutchwork involved, the superior lower gearing and lockers show how amazing the two red Subarus perform here. I have owned a lowrange manual subaru which was amazingly capable, but I still prefer the control of the auto, if I could source an external low range solution and front locking diff as Alex mentioned, it would be chalk and cheese with what we have now for options.
