Subaru Impreza 2.5i Uel Headers Swap

Thanks man i finally installed it this afternoon, and i can't remove my smile hahaha. It bolt on to the engine perfectly, but the stock 2nd cat didn't. It's slightly angled a little bit so i cut the cat pipe, and angled it to match the headers flange. No leaks and no check engine thank God. You're the only na subaru owner who replied and help me with detail. I reused the oem flange because they're still in great condition.

Hey Abel Rodriguez, just got some 2006 oem wrx headers and i was going to have the flange rotated towards my cat pipe, buttt... I found out that stock (2010 2.5i's) have cats in the header, yay me, and the exhaust shop said they wouldn't even touch my header because it is a federal law. Do you pass emissions every year and no CEL with no cats in the header and the single cat after the header (2nd cat)? Thanks for the help!

How’s it going Braden, I actually don’t own this car anymore. At the time, I had found some headers that were UEL and made specifically for 2.5i’s. The product in the link in the description has since been removed. But I had both cats in and I passed inspection.

The manifold would probably work with my 06 Legacy 2.5i, correct? Both of our vehicles have the same engine, the EJ253. Also, what I find interesting is the headers you provided the link to say they are for the newer FB engines. Have you had any issues with it?

Well, I can’t tell you for sure but at around 0:07 you can see the way it swivels around my oil filter and everything else. It’s made to fit the cars that it says on the title. If you try and put it on another model you might run into problem with your oil filter. That’s the main issue. If your cars bottom looks a lot like mine then go for it lol, return it if anything

Oh and no, no issues. I made sure my o2 sensors where in the right spots and I haven’t had any cel’s.

Yeah I looked at Those too but the whole 97-05 thing kinda swayed me away from going that route. When I found something that actually had my car's year in it, I felt a lot more comfortable making the purchase.

sorry for the late reply but i slowly moved up in pipe size. from 2.0"--->2.5"---->3.0" my mpg is the same but thats probably because i didnt have a muffler before. my power is eh, the same. I'm sure a tune would help. When i was running without o2 sensors my power was great but once i put them in it went back to kinda sluggish.

Nice set up! May I ask if the tsudo uel header work with the stock cat? So i can buy the uel header only. The link you have is for a 2.0 or its a direct bolt on to a 2.5i?

whats up, the stock cat is actually a whole piece attached to your old el headers. so unless you like.. idk, saw it off lol, you will need a new cat. the link does say its for a 2.0 but it bolted right up to my 2.5 with no issues. I will suggest getting the oem gaskets though

abel rodriguez O i get it, you meant" stock cat is actually the whole piece attached to old headers" is the 1st cat(built in), and the 2nd cat is the long pipe after it that's detachable. Am i right or wrong?

yes exaclty, the second cat can be cut off and welded to fit. shouldnt be a big deal. I didnt do that though, i only have one cat. no cel

yeah i need them too over here in jersey, they have 2 cats but one is built into the headers. I replaced it with just one cat about a foot after the headers.

They have one with a highflow cat but I didn’t get that one. I decided to get my own magnaflow cat instead.

I am so confused and can't find an answer. What UEL is everybody using? I can't find any specifically for the Impreza, only the WRX. I read some say they aren't a direct bolt and some say they are? I want to straight pipe my 2008 Impreza and get UEL no clue how to proceed, to just get cheap wrx headers and a WRX exhaust? So little info on the fitment.

3'' piping on the Tudor N1. Loss of power on our cars. I had one on for one month before removing it due to massive power and fuel economy loss. You wanna stay under 2.5'' exhaust diameter on the 2.5i.

YES i can say Yes to that completely confident it will fit. The headers are specifically made to fit 08-11 models. You found them here haha

Well, not the exact same setup but doing the same equivalent thing on a sedan will give you the rumble for sure. Its mostly all about the uel headers.

I personally didn’t have to tune to get the ruble, I think you’d get a nice low, not really noticible sound if you swapped for a high flow cat. The type of muffler you have is what really decides on how much rumble you hear. I bealive I had 2” headers>2.5” hiflow cat>3” muffler.

yes it has to bungs but your car will throw a code if you dont have the o2 sensors sensing better air quality from the first sensor to the second. so those two bungs will work for you if you dont care about the cel and want the car to react quicker but if it matters then you need the cat and the sensors before and after.
