Subaru Levorg GT-S (CVT) acceleration issue

Could it be engine lugging, or knock detected. Drive by wire throttle can override your input to protect the engine. On my snowmobiles I can make throttle input smoother just by changing performance mode. I belive Subaru has similar feature with intelligent, sport (and sharp on sport cars)
