Subaru WRX - Pull Style Clutch Install: 2002-2005

I install the KSB-03 Exedy clutch kit in an 2004 Subaru WRX. This video highlights how the throw-out bearing connects to the pressure plate. I show the clutch fork, throwout bearing, and the pressure plate so that we can see how they all go together.

Very common question. I had the same issue with it clipping in. Also the battery tie down is the right thread pitch for pulling the clutch fork dowel out.

I just installed my motor and forgot to install the throw out on the fork I left it in the clutch, I'm guessing I have to pull the motor again to attach the fork to the throwout?

Oh man, that sucks. You will definitely need it because it connects the fork to the clutch.

Do you have to put the throw out bearing before you put the plate on?

I gotcha !! I was so confused about push style/ pull style. Now I see it. Totally makes sense now. You'll need to keep the throw out barring on the transmission side for installation !!!! It'll be way to hard get it back on to the shifter fork for installation blindly the other way. I think I gotcha !!!

QSC is what I bought, cheaper alternative, so far it’s doing the job, I’d like to go oem next time. Although the explanation on how the throw out bearing has to connect with pressure plate, helped a lot! That “C-clip” was my problem before. That’s where it failed. I did not do the clutch job, so, decided to do it myself. Props for them little details my man! How’s your subie working?

When the throw bearing is on the engine side how much play back and forth do you normally have?

I remember there being quite a bit of play even when it was on the fork because those two little paper clips holding it aren't that stiff.

@@KennyGillis OK mine moved back and forth like 3/8 of a inch. Just seemed like a lot of play

Totally doing it the hard way my dude it's actually easy to fish for it on the fork I could do it blindfolded put in the fork onto the little notches it's quite easy but give it a try at least once and see if you can do it if not then at least you know which way is the easiest nice video
