Love how you skipped showing us the removal off the last but on the turbo, toughest one to get! Ended up giving up after getting all but one nut off, I still have no clue how I’m going to remove it, tried from under the car, both sides of the turbo, just too strange of an angle to even get a socket in there

Very detailed, but its a ratchet not a socket, and why not wait to get the 02 out until it's off the car?

Great videos. I'm getting ready to remove my engine from my 03 WRX. Been a few years since I did it so these videos are a great refresher. I'm gonna say this though, don't use a gates kit when doing the timing belt. Some of the parts are made in China. My tensioner failed after 6k miles, timing belt slipped off, bent my valves. No more Gates components for me. Been an expensive rebuild so far.
@SubaruONLY6 жыл бұрын
Whoa. Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear that though buddy. Cheers!

@@SubaruONLY used a good amount of that and let the car sit overnight. Still no movement. But, they're bolts that haven't moved since 2000 when the car was built. So I'm not too surprised lol

Always a great video. When the exhaust bolts are too rusted you can cut them off with a cutoff wheel or use a grinder. You can also try heat but if you have the tools and bolts already you may save some time there. Just be careful not to damage yourself or things you need to reuse.

Hey hopefully you see this, trying to get my down pipe off on my 02 WRX and the bottom nut is just such a pain, can’t get any socket and ratchet combo I’ve tried onto it and any wrench I try isn’t long enough and can’t be because of limited room, any suggestions??

Hi mate! What gasket you gonna use when you wanna reinstall the down pipe on the lower and upper flange?
@SubaruONLY6 жыл бұрын
For these I just use the factory Subaru metal one or GrimmSpeed brand ones - they have started making almost all the gaskets for these cars. They are just as well made and a little cheaper usually.

I don’t know if you’ll see this being 2 years late but Im looking to buy a downpipe I found on FB market. The seller claims it for his 2013 wrx perfectly but the bracket did not line up so he had an extra bracket welded on. He says it should fit a GD style exhaust bc he claims that the piping is essentially the same it’s just the brackets that are off. Do you know anything about this?
@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
I believe it should fit just fine. These engines are EJ-style engines and the downpipe should be the same. Good luck 👍
