I've got a UK version Vauxhall Cascada. I've had Merc/BMW and Audi convertibles. This one drives the best. Not a rocket ship but my Mk4 Toyota Supra fits that bill. The Cascada is a pretty vehicle and fairly rare, and I haven't come across a neglected one. It's a leisurely satisfying drive. Some say a car transports a person, but a convertible transports the soul. Don't knock it until you've tried it

it's pretty funny to see so many people knocking this car where this is exactly the type of vehicle you would get compliments on because it's Unique and different. This is precisely the type of vehicle that will become a collector car. Who wants a "me-too" car? People just love to hate now a days.

Actually, Buick is doing extremely well. The Encore started the subcompact crossover craze and the Enclave is still selling like hotcakes. The brand new LaCrosse and Envision are starting to show up at dealers and they will be a hit. A new Regal has been spied numerous times and it was confirmed that Buick will get a wagon in the coming years.

+Evan Ganske crossovers are hot these days. predicted to surpass passenger cars. I'm not sure the Enclave or encore started the craze but for sure is a hot number. I would be shocked if they brought a wagon seeing how Americans avert from that unless it's 5ft off the ground

Why so much hate? I think this is a beautiful car. I get design is subjective, but don't call it a pos simply because it isn't your favorite styling. I really liked the interior quality and the fact that I, being 6'2", can actually fit in the backseat. Could they have refreshed it for the American market with the new IntelliLink, a new gauge cluster, and a proper waterfall grille? Yes, but it is still a near convertible. This is GM's first U.S. application of the 1.6T and it turned out to be super smooth. I think the 1.6T would make a great engine in the upcoming Equinox/Terrain and even perhaps the new Regal.

because people on the internet and people in general have basically lost their mind. It's all about criticism and hate these days. yes this is a good looking and nicely designed car and although subjective, I think the color is pretty awesome. You don't see that color on cars often. hey, I love the Camaro but I can almost guarantee you'll get more compliments on a daily basis with this car than a Camaro which more of the population owns. people hate and discriminate because of their own self-consciousness. Get over yourselves.

It is a badge engineered Opel, but Buick is going to be replacing Opel entirely in Europe soon, the switch is already coming.

I truly believe this car should be priced as an entry-level Buick and they're trying to sell it off as a premium vehicle. entry-level Vehicles today have tons of features and luxury amenities. Basically, cars today are really good no matter what brand you get but I'm disappointed that Buick is not making the price of this car dramatically lower

The wheels are nice than those on the Opels/Vauxhalls. I work for Opel and the Insignia is a very nicely made car. Very heavy but not a car to track anyway.

I have the original European version. At launch reviewers in Europe criticised to he buttins but now they are great as once youre used to ghem, everything us there, nothiffen in sub menus on a screen you cant see in the sun. The turning circle isng great, the heated seat stios working and the rear screen cimes unglued. But its a nice cruiser and a genuine 4 seater.

Adding to the fact on top of the many issues this car has that some of you have already mentioned; I feel that the gauges and nav screen are to outdated, way to many buttons aswell. Its basically a direct copy of the 2012 regal gs and that had way to many buttons, but acceptable in 2012. Now in 2016 its certainly not acceptable in a Buick like this. If GM teched this car up (like the new regals) a few more sales would have possibly been had. But as it sits, the only time people with get to drive this is when they choose convertible at the rental counter.

I thought it was a cool little Buick until 15:15 when he activated the windshield wipers. That's like a complete deal breaker for me. I'm just not a fan of that style/setup. Reminds me of a mini van. I think this would be perfect for the teenage daughter of an affluent family in suburbia

Color & top storage, great! Front end thought Chrysler Sebring. Steering wheel screams Chevy. Haters of Buick, they have recovered, yes saved due to China top of market. Buick has moved far, far from the 80s & 90s to attract drivers of all ages, not just seniors.

Buick really needs a refresh on this interior design/layout, don't like how similar it looks to other Buicks or other GM products, I know some things must carry on from brand to brand, but they should go along the routes of the new chevys. I gotta say, that center stack, besides all those buttons, they all look the same, no color or barely any distinction.

I have the Buick Verano, which has a very similar interior. I will say that many of those buttons become obsolete as you become used to the layout of the buttons that you do use. I disagree with your comments on the nav screen, I think it looks crisp and vibrant. You were spot on with the steering- it has excellent weight but is numb as hell.

Hey Matt: GREAT review. Accurate and honest, if not leaning towards being politely favorable about this car. Dreadful vehicle! Especially after your Miata review just prior to this, the Cascada just has nothing to inspire. As in import and not manufactured by GM, this car is odd and pretty cringy. I suppose you could get used to it and "appreciate" or tolerate it, but why? This is clearly a car that I'll never own unless some crazy event occurs like I win one. Even then, I'd sell it. Yuk. Renault, Peugot, Opel....just can't. Thanks for the reveiw though. Always appreciate and thrill to see your work.

If Buick specializes in the smooth, understated and elegant side of GM luxury and not the edgy, in-your-face variety, I think they should be fine. They sure need a few good updates, but not so much that their identity is lost from it.

You seem very afraid to criticize cars. You say the seats are a "tad" firm, that the interior is a "bit" outdated. Don't be afraid to really nail the weak points of cars, some people will reference your videos before buying a car and would prefer info without fluff.

I did an extensive test drive of this car and some other 4 seat convertibles. A couple things you didn't mention in your review; the doors are really heavy and big and could be an issue in tighter parking lots. The wheels/tires are too big! On smooth roads they do fine, but on choppy pavement they do impart a flinty ride, very un-Buick (plus, 20" wheels look ridiculous on a car this size. 18" would have been a better choice, which Vauxhaul does offer). Yeah, the entire center stack is a mess and the touch screen is set too far away to operate easily. I found the seats uncomfortable after the first hour. What felt nice initially proved too firm for this kind of car. The engine is pretty gutless and it doesn't sound good and gets crappy MPG. Things I did like? The power seat operation to reach the back seats, back seat space, heated steering wheel and a very slick top operation. In the end I got the Audi A3 Cab for just about the same price as the top end Cascada. It's not perfect either, but it felt much more composed overall, has smaller, lighter door, a much nicer interior and much better engine.

I'm curious how long this car can survive in the market, considering the convertible specific cars, like the Toyota Solara, generally don't last long. Maybe in places where the climate is mild this convertible will still sell. Outside of that, I can put my words on how you described this car: A jack-of-all-trades cruiser with more agility and a few neat details (Not the center console, of course!). How is the rigidity of the Camaro convertible? I hear with convertible-specific cars like the Cascada, they don't suffer from rigidity problems than cars that offer the convertible as an option.

The touch screen reach shouldn't be a problem for the little old ladies who'll sit 3 inches from the steering wheel and don't care about if the center dash display is color or not. - The target market for this car also wants buttons not touch screens so there ya go....

I remember sitting in this car at the LA Auto Show last year thinking it'd be competitively priced with the Beetle convertible, and HOLY SH** almost had a heart attack when I saw the MSRP. The interior feels like the last generation of Pontiac, I.e. it's "nice" but woefully outdated. It's no mystery that you don't see these things on the road.

Its a pretty car but at damn near 40K . I don't know. How, and why in the hell does it weigh that much? Buick, use to make the smoothest riding cars on the planet, ....damn near all Buicks. Stay with with the smoothness and Highway cruisers, or bring back Pontiac for the sporty stuff. The Buick Lasabre and the Roadmaster were the best riding cars ever.

Buick's biggest competition is Chevrolet. I mean seriously Buick is supposed to be a "luxury" brand but they offer virtually nothing over a Chevy except a higher price tag. Their entire lineup is just mediocre and unattractive, I mean no one raves about Buick styling. But as long as they're just rebadging Opels I guess it doesn't cost them much to keep Buick going.

I just keep hearing in my head: "Everytime we touch... I get this feeeeeeling". As for the car, it's not terrible looking - but definitely is not for me - but I don't think that's what Buick was targeting. I see the 45+yr old woman - who wants a convertible but knows nothing about cars - as the primary buyer. That single color display in the gauge cluster, and the older touchscreen graphics, are such cheap-outs in my opinion. It appears like the front bumper is made for a wide European plate? I presume that rectangular piece pops up and the plate can mount behind it? As for the seatbelt, the fix could be to just buckle it up :)
