Just watching this for the first time as I prepare to do a lift on my 05 xt Forester and looking at my lift options. Amateur question: Is that suspension you're running pretty much stock? or would I need taller springs than stock for this to work? Would there be much benefit to purchasing other than stock springs? Also, did adding this lift allow you the option to run a larger tire size? Either way, what Tire size are you running? Thanks! Looks siiiick!
@ignitionoffroad50283 ай бұрын
@@Ilikeguitaralot lots of questions there! Yes, in most cases the suspension stays stock and a lift spacer is simply the placed on top of the strut. I would avoid running raised springs but you can look at heavy duty springs if you plan to load up your subie for adventures. I run 215/75r15 tires. Unfortunately most Subarus don’t have much room to upsize wheels without modifying the body for clearance.

Just perched a 2005 forester xt with manual its got a 2.5 inch lift done with adf strut tops dont think it had any of the subframe spacers though as it's right cv boot tore a hole in it just driving home and the ride felt like it was slammed to the ground instead of like you would expect from a lifted vehicle. Trying to find the body spacers without including strut tops that I already have.
@ignitionoffroad50284 жыл бұрын
You shouldn’t need subframe spacers with only a 2.5” lift. If you do, you will have 1/2” ground clearance over stock and it will be very costly for such little gain. Use OEM driveshafts only and you shouldn’t have many problems.

@ignitionoffroad50284 жыл бұрын
Even with bigger lifts your driveline will only ever be lifted 2 inches higher, so you can only improve ground clearance further by adding larger tyres. The body lift I have only gives me better approach/departure angles. I recommend a 2" lift and some slightly larger tyres. This will get you most places, and you'll have a blast doing so.

So do you have to do all this for a 2" or 2.5" lift?

Why do u need to drain coolant n unplug battery and fuel linw and anything inside the engine for installing a lift kit is all that really in the way to install coilovers

@@NateW-ve4do because it is a driveline drop, and the engine is physically lowered from the chassis, coolant lines and steering shafts all have to be extended. You can lift a Subaru around 2 inches with spacers or offroad coilovers before needing the body spacers.
