Jay Y The statistics are from several official sources. Tokenism is adding just to add them, akin to being useless tokens to the setting. Since 5% of Australia is Asian, and I'd bet more than that is of younger generation, then for realism to reflect Australia would have at the least a couple Asians in the cast and/or extras. To have more would be to admit a focus on Asian-Australians. I'm actually okay with that, as long as they note it in their desire for representation (like they did for LGBT in here; see the description). I'm not saying not have racial diversity, but I am saying that it isn't absolutely required, nor actually representative of the majority of Australia. As a gay person I am not up in arms about a teen-oriented show have no or very very few LGB characters, but I do encourage there being some and look to support shows with a focus on them, and as a racial ally I encourage the same on that regard. I only do not consider it literally necessary for a creative program with its own aims. This is also a pilot, likely grabbing who they can, where they can, for what they can. That there were white people involved isn't something to malign it with, but encouragement (perhaps loudly if it comes to that) to include LGBT racial diversity is something I am fully for and consistently do.

Heya, this is an Aussie show that unfortunately couldn't get backing from anywhere to continue making it :( The first episode was partly crowd funded so that they could get it produced and released on KZbin but the cost of making it the way they wanted too (a high quality drama) was too high not to have a backer helping them... and because they wanted to do it a certain way they didn't want to turn it into a webseries (Which would of been cheaper) The following article from back in 2016/17 hopefully explains a little bit better. gaynation.co/groundbreaking-lgbt-tv-series-that-may-never-get-past-episode-one

So sad this isn't happening. Young actors do not look the same 2 years after the pilot was filmed. At this point they might as well release all filmed episodes to get some KZbin revenue. Maybe stop gunning for a big Hollywood producer, but collaborate with the council lbgt campaign.

After working in Australian TV for over 20 years I'm absolutely shocked that the ABC or ABC2 hasn't jumped on this ASAP. Generally speaking Australia has minimal to no content in relation to the lgbtq community, in comparison to other countries we're falling behind! Australia needs programming that promotes acceptance as well as inspiring lgbtq youth to feel more confident and accepted. Subject to change is a well written, wonderfully produced show with a talented cast that give you a real sense for what it can be like, it's the kind of show that just about anyone can get into; we need this.
