We need more English teachers like you! I hear young Filipinos using singular for example Two dollar, three peso, two kitten etc

So, correct them on the spot!

Obviously, students are not learning english basic in school... Filipinos are weak in conversational english... When i hear Filipinos speaking english fluently it tends to be "bookish" like their teachers...

In the town where I grew up people say “pisos” for one peso and for two pesos “dalawa ka piso”.
@kuyaocstriviaeverything98602 жыл бұрын
Good observation. Most of the time the correct phrase is to pluralize them like; two dollars, three pesos, two kittens, etc. However, there are situations wherein it is also correct not to pluralize them like; a two dollar bill or simply two dollar bill. We can say, "Please pay me in two dollar bill/bills." If the word is hyphenated (compound adjective), it is also ok not to pluralize it. E.g.; three-peso candy/candies. We can say, "You can buy three-peso candies from the sari-sari store of Mr. Santos." Another E.g.; two-kitten adoption rule. We can say, "If you intend to adopt kittens in that animal rescue center, you need to follow their two-kitten adoption rule."

@@larrynarvaez1146 Well, in some of the countrysides, they follow their dialect/language format. They combined English words with their dialect/language. Btw, piso is now officially entered in the English language dictionaries (Merriam-Webster, Chambers, Collins, etc.). It is an acceptable word in Word English Scrabble Competitions in the Phils. and in international competitions. Piso is the singular form and pisos is the plural form. Thanks.

If I remember it right when we’re in Elementary we have been taught anything with”s” is plural sometimes it makes me confused or nakatulog na naman ako sa klase🤪thank you so much madam love how you explain and expound everything it makes easy for us to understand God bless you and your family more
@larrynarvaez11462 жыл бұрын
When we were in the elenentary grades, we WERE taught that to make a noun plural, we would just add “s” to it. For nouns ending in “y”, we would change “y” to “i” and add “es” . Ex: candy, candies; family, families, etc. For nouns ending in “f”, we would change “f” to “v” and add “es”. Ex: self, selves; wolf, wolves. There are, of course, exceptions. There are nouns that end in “s” but are singular. Ex: mathematics, economics, forensics, politics, physics, pneumatics, semantics, olympics, robotics, aquatics, basis, crisis, nemesis, tuberculosis, hypnosis, analysis, bronchitis, dermis, dermatitis, syphilis, laryngitis, gingivitis, vaginitis, iritis, etc. Good luck with your learning the English grammar. It’s a never-ending endeavor, you know.

Walang tinurong mali si Ma’am Myra sa videong ito. Wala s’yang itinurong contrary sa turo ng author ng Basic English Grammar na nabasa mo. ‘ Yong “has”, “goes”, o “waits” is useD if the subject is in third person singular, present indicative mood.
