Some of our crafting friends asked how to prevent the wheel marks on their prints.
We did this video showing how to modify epons sublimation printers to prevent the wheel marks of the rollers.
Printer used in this video is Epson 2856.

Thank you! It really worked, no dots anymore. You need to remove the black roller bar because it will push the paper up and it will scratch it. I tried everything but the one showed in the video is the perfect solution.

I was suspicious of the white rollers and spring tension levers when I watched the paper come out. It is apparent that the sublimation ink stays wet for a while so DTF power will stick. Anything that rolls across the ink smears it like a squeegee. This modification definitely clears up the lines, but it adds an unexpected issue. The black roller was originally designed to finish pulling the paper through the printer and ejecting it. With the black roller removed, if a design is to long, the paper may quit moving before the print is complete. On our ET-2308, we have to resize/reposition the image on the paper with as little margin at the top as possible, but at least 1.5 inches at the bottom. Failing to do so causes wide bars at the bottom because the ink is still being dispensed but the paper is no longer moving. Leave a margin at the bottom of about 1.5 inches and it should be ok.

I can 10000000% confirm that this method works for DTF printing, if you need to add tape to help get the paper through that's the only thing i would add, otherwise remove everything shown in the video all the pin wheels and the long black roller bar with the large white toothed wheel. My first attempt I left the long black bar in and it pushed the paper up which smudged my ink, after removing it just like in the video the prints are now coming out perfect with no smudges or smears!!!! I'm using and ecotank-2800. hope this helps!

If you have a dremel tool you can remove the star wheels and shave down the spikes until smooth. Reinstall 2 or 3 evenly in the middle and this will fix the problem . I also recommend leaving the gear and bottom roller alone to help feed the paper along.

It helped with easysubli. But if you have pre-cut mug paper, you will have to add an extra mug paper or scrap at the end so the printer can push it out completely. If not, one sheet will stop after back rollers and reprint in one spot. I would say with a full sheet 8.5x11, if your image is 2/3, you might just make a full print. Definitely, if it’s a full print of 8.5x11, you will need to tape a paper tail on it to allow the printer to push the whole sheet. If you do a lot of printing, you may not like this cheat. Just mo Important note Mine is an Epson et1500 But see other videos saying the same process

Works for 2800 and 2803 as well. If you need to print on the last inch or so just tape a few extra inches of paper at the end of your transfer sheet.

Do not remove black roller bar and white gear! or the printer cannot feed the paper when it is done printing and will smudge the last 1 1/2 inch of the print. I only removed the metal pizza/pin wheels in the center but keep the 2 outer wheels and 4 outer white wheels 2 on the outer parts of the page on each side (there are about 15 of them). I totally removed the 3 front white wheels with metal springs. This worked great and still feeds the paper like normal. Hope this helps.

Have you done a video on how you did your method ? When I do the dtf hack black lines come out and before adding the powder I remove the lines with cue tip but all that is extra work and slows me down but I definitely don’t see a lot of lines it’s a few so I’m guessing there’s no need to remove all of them and I definitely don’t want my paper jamming

@@Doit4theLord1 I do not have a video but the details I indicated above makes sense when you follow this video's direction. The two outer pinch points are the only thing feeding the paper correctly out by the side edges. Keep the black bar and white gear to allow this. honestly i forgot the details of what I did but i do no get black lines or dots and the paper feeds like normal with sublimation paper. Hope that helps.

@@Doit4theLord1 I tried remembering what I did and looked at this video again and I recall looking straight into the paper path from the front where the paper comes out and seeing some pizza wheels which I also took out. Maybe that is the issue. Otherwise I cannot imagine what is causing lines except for maybe the plate the wheels came off of. I use sublimation (Asub 125 G, 125 gram) weight paper which does not show lines. If all else fails look through the front with a good light to trace the lines and possible culprits.

@@kasyucraft So I removed the wheels and the roller. The page will not eject all the way. In fact I no longer can use the last inch of the paper. It gets to the point the paper stops feeding. Is this now the new normal without the roller?

@@paulwright4188 We tried to print the last inch of the film with sticking a small cut paper behind it. Then we can print the last inch too.

I recently buy canon g2770 model... Same problem wheel marks on photo paper seen in light.. what to do... Service executive says that it is due to moisture... What should i do... I have new printer

I have the Epson sure color f170 sublimation printer and I have to tape a white paper to the back of it for it to print if I don’t use the paper on the back it won’t print or sometimes it will print only half of the picture

Yes, it is normal. Becoz some printers can't sense the transparent film. Tape a paper to the back works perfectly for those printers.

The reason why there is wheel marks is the same. But your model is different from our EPSON2850. I'm not sure if they are the same rollers in your printer.
