Sublimation on Blue Glitter Sub Tumbler, Then What?

When I recently sublimated onto 3 different pre-glittered sublimation tumblers (see that video here: • Sublimating on Pink, G... ), I left out the 4th glitter sub tumbler -- a blue one -- because I felt the blue was too dark and would swallow most graphics that were sublimated onto it. So in this video, I still sublimate a graphic onto the blue glitter sub cup, but then I add some extra touches in order to lighten up the entire tumbler and add lots of sparkle! The glitter gods laughed and laughed.

I just recently got into sublimating tumblers and mugs, have a clamshell press on the way. I'm enjoying it a lot (as far as the e-commerce aspect of it), but, in itself, the level of artistic satisfaction is a bit lacking. I'm sure you will help me up my game in that sense, as shown in this video. You mentioned another sublimation video you did, near the start of this video, but I missed that one and don't find it on your channel. Is it to be released in the future? So this this glitter glue or puffy paint with glitter mixed in? Then do you epoxy until smooth if so how many layers about did you use? I really like the look of this and something different to try.

Thank you!! Stickles is just a brand name of glitter glue, and yes, once it dries, I apply a layer of epoxy resin, add the pin striping, then resin again. If you use a pretty thick resin, one layer after the pinstripes might be enough (so 2 layers total). If your resin is a bit thinner, then two layers after pinstripes will be needed (so 3 total). Definitely give it a try!! 😊✨

Of the Stickles? I’m not entirely sure how long exactly. I usually apply them to the cup then leave it overnight. But it’s probably more like a couple hours.

Yes, absolutely - that’s exactly what I did here. I sublimated on a design, drew over it with Stickles glitter glue, then covered the entire tumbler with epoxy resin.

@@veefres1580 that’s totally personal preference. I tend not to sand (I couldn’t in this situation because I’d damage the glitter glue I’d applied); I personally don’t think it’s essential. But other people will tell you it’s mandatory. Whatever you prefer or feel more comfortable doing. Another option would be not sanding but spraying a layer or two of clear matte spray paint. The paint bonds to the sub cup’s surface, and the resin bonds to the clear matte paint layer.
