I saw Sublime live in Arcata Ca, Humboldt County, right before Bradley died. It was in a tiny bar, with like maybe 30 people there, and admission was like $10. What an opportunity. I will never forget it.

I was depressed for a while, I'm completely not anymore. And the reason I'm not is Sublime. I picked up my guitar for the first time in 6 years after hearing this, I've been picking up a lot, and singing and playing brads rhymes and grooves is such a wonderful experience for me that it makes the rest of life worth living. When I play/sing sublime, something comes over me thats unique to anything in my life. But its love, its pure love. Thanks Brad, we miss you.

In my God’s honest opinion, these 3 dudes in their prime could hold their own amongst the best of them. They had THEIR sound. and they were the absolute best at it. Brad with that insane guitar work and those killer vocals. Bud with the groove on drums. and Eric killing it with the bass. Man. They were on their way to take over the world. addiction is a mf.

Pure decade? Musically? Yes and no. Up to (and including) 1996, it most certainly was. The rest of the decade was a nightmare. Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Vengaboys, Puff Daddy, Spice Girls, Christina Augilera, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, No Limit Records, Creed, Ricky Martin, Hanson, Sugar Ray (after selling out), etc. You almost never heard good music on the radio after 1996, and when you did it was usually watered down and clean (often with contemporary electronica 'touches' that sounded cheesy and forced). Technologically, sure. You could still go to concerts in the early 2000s and not see people with their phones out. But as soon as youtube came into existence, and pretty much after Obama got elected (coincidence), concerts were never the same again. Now it's just a sea of people holding up their phones and ruining the experience for themselves and everybody else around them. Which is fine TBH, because most of the time the music they're recording is complete shit, and the "artists" they're seeing live aren't worth experiencing. These insufferable twits ruined popular music by liking the lamest garbage imaginable, so if their concert-going experience is ruined by some other POS holding up a phone, I can't shed a tear.

1st Warped Tour, saw Sublime for the first and only time. Only knew of daterape from the radio. I walked in to 3 white, bald, shirtless bellied dudes playing the smoothest reggae I've ever heard. Dope. A year after he died they toured as Sublime with lead vocals kinda rotating, mostly one dude. Let the audience sing Santeria, goose bumps now just typing it. One of the coolest moments I've experienced.

Much love to the real music lovers that go for similar reasons 🙏♥️💯

I love what Bradley and this band did. Now it may seen as kind of stereotypical and overplayed, but back then man, that was unique. The way they combined punk, ska, hip hop, rock, reggae, dub. There's just something about it that screams NINETIES! I can't even put my finger on what exactly it is, and I hate being stereotypical like this: but they don't make music like that anymore. Where are all the good rock bands? Why do all ska bands either sound like Reel Big Fish or 311? Where's the heart and the soul and the originality? IDK. I feel like Brad and Sublime really embodied a special moment. The man may have died, and the music may have changed. But I feel like deep down there's a deeper message that hasn't gone away yet. And I think we need it more than ever. 90s were hopeful in a way. Now things are... not. Maybe we can bring that spirit back. Thanks for the upload!

Saw them in New Mexico March of 95'. Two highlights were when starting the show he called out to the crowd and told them all they were fucken flower children. The next good one was when someone yelled Date Rape and he told the guy to f$#@ off! Fast forward one year and while living in San Francisco on 45th and Judah in the outer Sunset. Took a walk down to the beach to check the waves and noticed police tape, big crowds surrounding the dirty little beach motel. Didn't know what happened and continued to go to the beach, but while crossing in front of the bathrooms I noticed a group of guys standing around in a broken circle with their heads down. Still didn't know what was going on until I got home and my friends told me that Bradley had passed. We didn't fully know the cause at that time either, but what a funken sad night. We stayed up really late partying and talking. One of my bud's went down to the motel with some things for a memorial. One was a stuffed animal dinosaur. Any way he laid all the things down and light a candle. Really sucks to lose talent like that. It has nothing to do with the mystery of his passing. He was an insanely original and extremely talented guy. The band seemed to be pretty tight too. It shows when they play together and improv with their songs. Okay I am done with this essay! RIP Bradley and Louie dog.

Bradley is one of my favorite guitarists ever. He may not have that other-wordly technical finesse I usually admire - but damn, his sound and changes in tone are second to none. There's this special nastiness and dirtiness... and it just puts me in a very unique mood. The music itself, the lyrics, the atmosphere does - but his guitar tone just puts a cherry on top. Forever one of the biggest influences of my playing (and I don't even play reggae or punk (as of now)). Thank you for all these masterpieces, wherever you may roam now.

I've had a rough couple days. Tonight I came home even crying a little so I turned this on. Cheered me right up. Sublime was my first real music obsession. Whether it was a 40 Oz. tape in my dad's car, or spending my sophomore year in high school smoking weed to Robbin' the Hood. 24 now, and I have never grown out of my love for Sublime and never will.

I am so sick of people preaching that certain music is good music. I LOVE sublime, rhcp, foreigner, bob marley, nas, and a bunch of other great artist but I'm not gonna bash on people who like nicki minaj. Because good music is an OPINION it's unique to the individual. Let them enjoy their taste in music while you enjoy the stuff you like.

nah. good music isn't an openion. you know some people love weird Al but he's terrible anyway you look at it. it may be great to them but in reality it's horrible. But I know what you mean. if it means something special to them then cool. no need to bash people just cause they have different taste. live and let live. to each their own and all that. I agree 100% Be yourself no matter if it's not trendy at the time. just do you and enjoy

Pretty simply.. commercialisim.. it's always been there.. , The Monkeys, Vanilla Ice, Spice Girls, Justin Bieber.. it's all bullshit.. it's not really "what's on top".. it's what marketing executives want you to think is "on top". Its up to us as individuals to decide what's "on top".. not what is pushed on us in the form if consumerism.

the dude was unreal. he just adds random notes and strumming patterns throughout the song and it just sounds improvised.. but then the next time he plays the song the exact same way with the same crazy twists and tweaks and improvisations. anyone can play a sublime song.. but to play them the way he played them.. took real talent

They werent really known outside Long Beach when Brad was alive. They did that Van's tour the year Brad died. That definitely help get the word out. I believe the majority, if not all of the clips on this video are from the above mentioned Warped Tour. But yes, as far as the Band really blowing up AFTER Bradley overdoses, Its true. They were going to blow up as a result of the album regardless. It was breakthrough work. I'm left to wonder if the same fait awaited Bradley.

Stupid question, all these people in the audience, are they living life like accountants, nurses, construction workers, like it's been almost 30 years, where are these people? Are they living in our community? Jesus when I was a kid they were listening to ICP who did these people turn out to be because most the people i run into these days lost this music years ago and now are totally different people

I hear ya. There's 3 bands it kills me that I was too young to see live (born 1990) lol..Sublime, Alice In Chains, & Pantera. Also 3 musicians that had bigger impacts on my life than any others..Bradley Nowell, Layne Staley, & Dimebag Darrell. Even though Sublime didn't have a huge catalog of music, something about their music is refreshing everytime it's been a while since listening to em. Bud's drumming and Eric's bass lines just created the perfect rhythm section, along with Brad's soulful singing..His guitar playing was usually fairly simple, but something about it added that much more character. Innovative/unique bands like them are few and far between; damn shame it was cut so short when Brad lost his battle with addiction.
