I got the self titled album in the fall of 96, my freshman year of high school. Another guy in my class was also really into that album, and we became friends and started hanging out. Eventually we both had their entire discography, plus a half dozen bootlegs. We would drive around in his S-10 listening to sublime compilation tapes and smoking tons of weed lol. We are still friends to this day, I'm about to be 39 and he's 40. We still hang out, smoke weed, and listen to music. Thanks Sublime!

Capturing lighting and Genius in a bottle like that only happens every once in 50-100 years in recorded music history. Bradley Nowell had a proven IQ of 142 on paper even by age 11. He was placed in a program called M.G.M mentally gifted minors by his parents in Orange County CA. He was the true unspoken genius of the 1990s. Sublime is without a doubt my favorite band of all time.... They have brought this world so much happiness with their music and into my life. Hearing Brad, Eric, and Bud’s solo tracks was haunting, amazing, and bitter sweet all at the same time. Thank you Rolling Stone for covering this... watching this brought me great joy, chills down my spine, and watery eyes. The most influential band in my entire life, mixing Reggae, Punk Rock, Ska, Blues, Hip Hop, Folk, Dub, Freestyle, Electronic flawlessly crossing genre to genre showcases how truly special this band was. That’s kind of the problem looking back, all the great bands stand out making it seem more diverse than it was. Still think that was one of the great eras of music if you can ignore it also saw the rise of boy bands.

I don't know about chills, but I did feel emotional. I'll explain. I've been playing that solo for many years now. People always transcribe it without the double note, but I hear it there, and so I've always played it as a double note. Nevertheless, it has always confused me because no matter how quickly I try to alternate pick it, it never sounds quite right. I'd wondered if there was some other technique going on there that I hadn't thought of, lol. Of course, Brad's dead, and it's such an obscure question to ask anyway,-it never even _occurred_ to me I'd ever get an answer to that question. So when he started telling that little story...man, my jaw dropped a little. What are the chances?!? after all these years. It feels like a cross between nostalgia and resolution.

As well respected as Brad is these days, I still think he’s a bit underrated. The guy stands out in an era of music where brilliant songwriters were hiding behind every corner. Easily right up there with Cobain and Jerry Cantrell. I think because his songs were relatively simple and had a party vibe to them they get overlooked. Brad I believe did have perfect pitch. I’ve never heard him sing a bum note and I’ve heard every single song he ever sang! Such an injustice to lose him at that point. We love ya guys and thanks for the memories! ❤️

You guys are 100% Awesome! If I can tell you a story... Sublime has been so influencial on my family i remember vividly, my brother travelling from Torontp, Ont to Atlanta, GA and the very first thing he did was pickup a guitar and start playing Santeria, His notes and vocals were spot on. I couldn't beleive what I was hearing, I thought "mo way" how did my little brother perfect Bradley Nowell? He then continued on with "Date Rape" and I was even more impressed. You guys are national treasures both in Canada and the US We love you so much!!!!! Why cant Bradley come back?
