I have two MSRs, one is a Loaner from the c2 and the second one was from a Live Twitch giveaway that I surprisingly won! As I don't normaly win star citizen ships But I enter them any way. I was not planning to buy a MSR with real money anyway. But I did get that nice Black and gold paint of when it came in concept. There are a few MSR giveaway running at the moments. @@wolfxwk538 thanks, I probably would have preferred that size to be honest, I think the server room and sensor room could have been combined which would have opened up that central space for extra cargo, recreation space, captains quarters, another entrance, or cryo pods for bounty hunting.

LOVE my MSR for all those reasons. Biggest con (besides the fuel munching), is the single entry point. Had an issue where the back hatch got smashed and was stuck halfway open. No way to enter it or request repairs.

in the tunnel area, one goes to the far right-front area of the ship, close to being under the scanner dish. I wish they would add an escape hatch. There is room, but the hall just dead ends at that spot

I don't mind the single entry point... what I find annoying is that there are too many doors from entry to cockpit (4 - excluding the ramp). Howver, I do believe and hope at some point that you can lock these doors open. Other than that, I love my MSR to bits and permanently wear the 'un-named' skin to go along with my all black 325a. Btw, both my MSR and 325a run your suggested component builds. Thank you very much, keep up the good work xD

You make the best ship review videos, hope you stick with it for the long haul. Also, bring back Ship Battles! Sabre vs Super Hornet, Valkyrie vs Prowler, Freelancer vs Cutlass. Also I'd love to see a buyers guide on the Anvil Wildfire, I've been on the fence about that ship for a long time. Just some thoughts, keep it up man, love the content.

I think the fuel usage would be fine if they tweaked the way all ships consume fuel. The star runner is a large ship that has large powerful engines and thrusters to make it as speedy as it is. It should guzzle fuel. But the community has run tests to prove that fuel usage is linear. So if you fly a ship more gingerly and use your thrust limiter to keep it under say 50% thrust, it will still use the same amount of fuel and it just takes you longer to get there, so you're better off going full throttle all the time. Think about it in car terms. A sports car can get reasonable fuel milage whe driven reasonably. But if you take it to the track and give it a total beat down you're getting like 4 miles to the gallon. So if CIG fixes this there is your balance. You have a big fast ship that can outmaneuver anything in it's class, but you gotta save that shit for when you need it or you're gonna pay a big hydrogen bill

The Mercury Star Runner is an absolutely beautiful ship. The only issue I currently have with the Mercury though is that for some reason CIG did not give it any escape pods. 😕 Practically every medium-large multicrew ship comes standard with escape pods but suddenly the Mercury does not get them for some reason. This just doesn't make any sense to me and I sincerely hope CIG will reconsider and give the Mercury 3 escape pods for the crew. There is more than enough available room inside the Mercury and multiple locations where they could place some escape pods. In that long hallway behind the bridge, on the wall across from the turret seats, that wall with the big bags hanging from it in the sleeping quarters, etc. etc. Another fan-favorite suggestion was that the cockpit itself would actually detach and serve as a lifeboat (similar to the Caterpillar Bridge Module). This would have been a great solution as well as currently that entire area next to the cockpit has nothing in it and it looks as if that entire area is held together with metal clamps; almost as if it was already meant to become some kind of detachable module. For a renowned manufacturer like Crusader Industries who holds safety in the highest regard it just wouldn't make any sense why the Mercury is suddenly without any escape pods for its crew in case of an emergency; especially when CIG showed during an earlier segment that on the Hercules they had escape pods listed behind the bridge. Both the Crusader Hercules and Crusader Mercury have similar crew sizes so why does the Mercury get no escape pods while the Hercules is planned to get multiple? So yeah, I REALLY hope CIG will reconsider and give the Mercury 3 escape pods (or a cockpit-lifeboat) for the crew. The Mercury is already a potential death-trap because it only has 1 exit and with "Death of the Spaceman" you'd really want to have some extra means of escape on the Mercury just like you currently have on practically every other medium-large multicrew ship. Even the Constellation Andromeda which was originally stated to be "the Millenium Falcon of Star Citizen" has escape pods for the crew as well as several airlocks and other means of egress.

Unless the game radically changes, escape pods are largely useless. If you lost a fight bad enough to need an escape pod I don't see the point in your character staying alive for a bit longer.

In the next patch they are making the hydrogen tanks bigger and fixing the crazy fuel draw the engines have now as well as turning up the fuel scoop.

Cool! I have to wonder though if "making the hydrogen tanks bigger" will come at the cost of the quantum tanks. At the moment it seems that they increased the quantum fuel tanks by accident and a good chunk of that 9740qfu was probably meant to be hydrogen fuel instead. The Mercury was supposed to have 2xM quantum fuel tanks compared to the Constellation's 1xM quantum fuel tank; so it should have had around 6000qfu (1xM tank usually has around 3000qfu). At the moment it appears to have 3xM quantum fuel tanks though so I suspect that CIG will change 1 M fuel tank from quantum fuel to hydrogen fuel instead. 😉

From a "lore" perspective the MSR not having ejection capabilities actually makes sense. This is the kind of ship you'd use to ferry information that is so important or valuable, not just monetarily, that leaving the ship to the whims of whoever may be trying to intercept it just isn't an option. You'd use this ship on a do or die mission. Only piloted by those willing to give their lives to see the mission completed. The kind of pilot who would rather be particlized alongside the MSR and whatever it's carrying. I'd liken this idea to the pilots and their balsa wood and cotton fabric biplanes back during WWI. Command actually removed the parachutes from the planes so that the pilots wouldn't be able to just bail out when things got hot, they were forced to push on and never had the option of giving up. The big difference now though, the MSR isn't made of wood and cloth, it's made of pure testosterone and raw power.

@@bunjmin4503 Yes and CIG decided to make it bigger which means you will be paying at the pump. We will see when 3.12 goes live. here is my post. It has links to the bug report and then there was a leaked 3.12 list and the fix was the bigger tank so you dont run out of fuel as fast. It needs the fuel scoops fixed and or the consumption of fuel. I think the crawling tunnels should have at least one exit hatch, I mean there's a dead end witch would work nicely for that... So basically a secondary exit but not necessarily an entrance (on planets) since it seems difficult to fit a ladder in there too, and maybie it could be only be opened from the inside...

EH, it's not really, especially if you don't screw with the man elevator in the cargo deck and just jump up and down. If you compare it to any other ship capable of 80+ cargo there is really not much of a swing. You're looking at a time about the same as the cat, faster than a carrack, and roughly the same amount of hallway that you get on a freelancer max + only a single button push to drop the ramp. If you compare to an auruora or something for doing box missions yea but by and large if you're talking a ship this size you aren't really doing box missions any more, you are doing proper cargo runs or vehicle operations, and compared to other ships this size for those uses it's on par

Melted a Connie Taurus into the MSR for £70. Because CIG still haven't fixed the Connie shields, missile racks & Taurus is still in concept & now unable to defend itself, while the base design (Aquila) is already flyable. Very happy, but would like size 4-G or 5-F back on the pilot turret. The upgraded Andromeda loaner did have nice firepower but you have to shoot-n-scoot because of the ineffective shields. Have been ejected from the MSR when entering QT a few times too.

Bear in mind there will be a lot of rebalancing across the board at some point in the future, and the shadow of the nerf hammer will be ever-present - That's the MMO life. The MSR is a versatile and good-looking ship. For me, it combines the best of the Cutlass Black, Freelancer MAX and Herald, but you lose out on solo-ability in a dangerous 'verse; if solo's your thing the other three ships have you covered but with much less versatility, and beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Out of interest I'm sure I saw a goldie-looking executive skin called Nightrunner(?) in some other YT videos - not the "you had to be there to get it" Advocacy skin. Did I misunderstand something or should I expect that to turn up? It was much more my speed!

Pretty sure the cockpit itself is an ejection system, makes sense with the double doors and if you look around the cockpit from the outside of the hull you can see obvious clamps and a seam where it would detach

I absolutely love this ship almost everything about it is perfect for me. There's one issue tho...it has only one entrance/exit so if that gets obstructed or destroyed, you're in a death trap. How do you all who adore this ship deal with this fact? I wanna know so I can deal with it too and buy it :D

I really like this ship unfortunately it misses the mark for me. I am a bounty hunter at heart who enjoys dabbling in a few side activities time to time. My current ship of choice as you can probably see in my profile picture is a Freelancer MIS. I was really wanting to upgrade to the Mercury Star Runner, however the pilot DPS is far too low. Unfortunately I do not have friends to play Star citizen with since they are not interested in space sims. So most of the time I am a lone wolf. And with such low pilot DPS going up against other players is most definitely going to get me killed. So I guess I'm sticking where's my freelancer for now until they release the Drake Corsair.

I absolutely love the MSR and it has because my number one fave ship and I make more then I spend of fuel doing ROC mining so the fuel isn't a huge problem for me but it most likely will get a small fuel tank increase so the fuel lasts longer

The hydrogen fuel needs to be about a quarter of the consumption it is currently. It cost about 7k to refuel it to full when empty which means it costs about 1k just to get into atmosphere. Hard to make money when its 12-14k to refuel both completely(maybe 2 round trips max) and you are only making 5-10k per full cargo trade. But yeah except for that it's a great ship!

I could do 3 different box missions on a full tank tbh. A little decoupling goes a long way ... and I regularly do 2 runs with a ROC on a full tank (150-175K each). It's bad, but hyperbole is unnecessary. ;) I really don't want to fly any other ship. Side note, it wouldn't even be so bad if you could refuel at a station when you have a vehicle in cargo --- I know I can't right now.

Unlisted CON: There are places a player can glitch into the ship, bypassing the ramp entirely. Yes this is not an intended feature, but it is part of the ship right now.

Lets play a game of Fuel Scooping that was introduced in 3.1. At first every ship was fuel scooping then it changed. That was April 2018. Below are the categories that was given. What does the Star Runner fall under? Combat (Short Range) - The in-game equivalent of a carrier based ship, such as the Gladius and Hornet. These ships will not come with nor have the ability to equip Fuel Intakes. Combat (Long Range) - These ships, like the Vanguard and Retaliator, will have Intakes as their role requires them to traverse long distances. Exploration - These ships will have Fuel Intakes by default. Their very nature dictates that they can travel long distances, well away from the nearest refueling location. Industrial & Transport - Typically, these ships will have Fuel Intakes by default, as again they are required to travel long distances. Support - Naturally, the Starfarer and most other ships in this career will retain them as they’ll often be expected to execute long distance and extended duration missions. Competition - These ships will vary depending on their type. Some ships, like the Razor, feature technology that allows them to refuel, whereas others, like the M50, deal with the issue differently by having larger fuel tanks. If you said Industrial & Transport you are correct. But did you know that it also falls into the Support Category? Yes the Star runner being a unique ship in that it was a Courier for the military gives it two spots in this category. YET we are fuel scooping 1% every 10 minutes. I have posted a question in ASK THE DEVS to see if they respond. Crusader Industries' Headquarters are located on Crusader a Gas Giant and you would think this company would be up in ARMS right now because they produced a ship that is currently has broken fuel scoops. I wasn't going to get the MSR, I love the Andromeda (which was my go-to ship), and the MSR asymmetry bugs me a bit. Bug OMG, the capabilities of this ship so much match what my preferred gameplay needs, I got the Warbond. I also got the C2, BTW, so I currently have 2 MSRs as well. Very much looking forward to that C2....

So what is your verdict after a year? Thinking of Andromeda vs MSR right now... 4x s5 Pilot weapon For Andromeda and snub fighter is a big plus for Connie

@@17trunX Still the MSR more meets my needs. The weapons aren't much of a concern for me as I prefer flight to fight usually, and the MSR can certainly get out of dodge while the Connie isn't able to outrun the quantum dampening ships like the MSR can.

I want this ship SO BAD and I want to start grinding for it but with the wipe coming up there's no point. If it was available on the store, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Why is it heeavyer than the 600i.. 600i is like twice its size.. CIG stop smoking weed mates, we need you focused. A few cons you forgot. The pilot controlled turret stops firing due to damage in combat, as soon as someone sneezes on it. It cant fly streight in the atmosphere, it needs constant corrections, otherwise it dips down.

I honestly think the weight numbers of older ships will significantly increase when they are reworked to current standards. MSR weighs more than a 600i? Also weighs more than all connie variants added together. 🤣 Every new ship we get makes old ships obsolete in every way. Was flying a freelancer the other day and while trying to find the pilot seat hit box, the textures on the consoles just looked so damn 2D and plain. Rest of the freelancer is not much better. Every ships earlier than the carrack need to be reworked. I really wish the ship team would take a couple quarters off from making new new ships and go back through the extensive catalog and remake the oldies.

I like it but havent flown it much. Its only good for trading atm. Also pretty sure the hull hp will be adjusted in the future.

I had this ship for almost a year , but when i used it, i don't know, i didn't feel the connection to her, so i melted it. I have the valk to do most of the things i would do with the MSR anyway, but i have her in buy back, so perhaps in the future when data running works, i can buy her again.

Excellent video! I love the MSR. I do hope they dont nerf the overall maneuverability and speed of the ship but tune down the hull hp drastically. Its weird that this ship has almost the hp of a Hammerhead.

I don't like the constant millennium falcon comparisons, the MSR is way too nice. No one is going to walk up to one in a hangar and be like, "this hunk of junk?" Although, admittedly, if you fly it in 3rd person it appears to handle a lot like the falcon did.
