Would be nice if you have a list with QT destinations instead of scrolling & zooming through the (bad) map. On your Car-Navi you don't scroll around on the map, but instead simply enter the destination, so why should this not be working in SC? Also this system would allow you to safe locations and share (aka sell) them to other players (which would be the basis of the exploration gameplay)

This really is awesome! Even without using any other specialized peripherals like sticks, GameGlass tremendously boosts immersion. Just tapping onto one of my two tablets that I had lying around anyways feels way more immersive than spamming some keyboard buttons.

I'd recommend sim dashboard over this. I tried game glass once for elite and it's pretty comparable to sim dashboards in terms of functionality. The reason I'd recommend that over game glass is mostly on the price, customisation and pre made designs. $34 for 12 month game glass sub but $12.99 for lifetime on sim dashboard. Then on top of that you have to pay for designs with game glass which are all included free with the lifetime membership on sim dashboard. I'd also say sim dash board is more versatile as you can upload custom images, buttons, switches etc from a library of thousands or you can create your own and use them... Overall it has a lot more customisation. Game glass shards all look the same to me but with different button layouts. It's also compatible with most other sims that have an API available to pull data from. It can still work with games with no public API yet like SC you just wont be able to pull data from the game.

Nice review! I only wish that as opposed to the monthly / yearly subscriptions there would be a one time fee instead while still being able to buy stuff from the market. That being said, you have some cool equipment there to mount your tablets. You should do a video on what you use to give Star Citizen players ideas on how to build their setup!

Great video! I had an older iPad and tried it out, I liked it, but there was some lag between the presses and activation in game. So at the Black Friday sale I got a 10 in Fire Tablet and it is much faster. I use the keyboard holders on each of my VKB mounts to hold them. With the Hero buttons feature I have one whole tablet that is the power triangle and it is awesome. I run the Avionics shard on the other one. I too really hope the do APIs so we can have actual MFDs on the tablets. If you could run the Comms MFD on a tablet, that would be your Landing Services button right there.

Been using a Fire HD 10 Plus for nearly a year now with GameGlass. Which is kind of funny as I bought the Fire for work. I run my Electronic Drivers log on it in addition to using it for Audible while driving. Just wish I could play SC when I have to park my truck for rest breaks. lol Edit: Oh ya. Hell yes. It's for those that want more immersion. Many of the controls you map to your HOTAS wouldn't actually be on a flight stick or throttle, they'd be on a panel somewhere in the cockpit. Things like lights, landing gear, doors to make a few for example.

Wow, Sub. Lots of work and great production value. Any chance on a two panels shard using your design theme? Having a capacitor triangle with a larger increase button in each corner with a bottom reset button is something none of them have. And maybe a bit larger triangles on tabs so it can be easier to use. Just an idea like the making a place on the mouse mat for the keyboard I gave you. Thanks for this and the mouse mat. Referbushed Amazon tablet are dirt cheap.

With the new Hero Component feature they just added, I was able to make my own shard that is full screen power triangle and one that is half screen power triangle and shield facings, in about 2 minutes each. They work amazingly and feels like having a full MFD at your fingertips.

My biggest issue with tablets on my desk, is having a mount that doesn't get in the way, and also allows charging via cable. Do you have joystick mounts? I use predator mounts for my sticks and they are releasing a tablet mount that can be moved around. I have a pre-production model in the shots of this video.

I have a HOSAS setup with two VKB sticks and I'm using VKB's desk mounts with two of what they call "phone mounts" for my keyboard. They do a good job in that role but were designed for phones/tablets. What seems to be difficult to find are good platforms for a mouse or for a tablet that are stable and have a high degree of adjustability. BUT, a good expandable set of stick mounts is a great place to start. I know it's expensive, but if you really get bitten by the sim bug, it'll be worth the investment.

Only relevant for iPad and Surface tablets but PIVOT cases by FlyBoys have mounting options you can install anywhere - actually designed specifically for in-cockpit use in commercial and military aircraft. I have an iPad mount for my Jeep Wrangler since the mount connection is so strong it gets minimal shaking off-road, they were my first thought for adding a tablet mount near my sticks for trying out game glass.

so i can only use functions that are actually controlled via a feature that is listed in the keybindings? Or is it possible to get the content of a MFD of the ship i am flying on the gameglass device? The thing i am looking for: switching the EMP generator of the Sentinel on and off. Not toggle the charging, not firing it, but power it. AFAIK this is only possible via MFD/guns/ or MFD/power and there is no dedicated keybinding for it. Thanks for help

Yes I have it and the shatner voice pack. I found it less intuitive to use and dealing with voice recognition is a pain. The last thing I need when I say a command like shields max is for the system to think about what I said and not understand and fail to process the command. I do like it's coordinates mouse clicking though, for requesting landing. But as I mentioned in the video I have come up with a workaround using autohotkey and it's works great video on that coming soon.

I put in a lot of time making my own peripherals using EA extended input, which I liked more than Game Glass. But CIG decided that Easy anti cheat should block that app. I was so frustrated that my custom interfaces were made useless. I used GG alongside EA. EA was more customizable, so it had to go, according to CIG. I still gey keyed up about it. Grrrrrr!

I do have some touchscreen computers, and some POS terminals that I want to see if i can run GG on, as it should be more powerful than a tablet, only problem is that POS terminals use speciel powered USB wires and cards.

There is a GG desktop client and a GG Tablet Client. Just sign into both and it works wirelessly. No need to sync with SC account. The desktop client sends your key strokes to the game.

Buttons quickly got out of sync on the tablet from the game state and client app on iOS would frequently disconnect. I realize it's a WIP for them so I might come back to it down the road.

There isn't any SYNC. This is a macro pad on steroids. One-day an API will fix that. Weird that you have issues with IOS but I have cheap fire tablets working fine. Even my son's shitty fire tablet works. Could be network or permission issues.

@@SubliminaLstv Wasn't implying that there should be sync but stating that, for example, Game Glass UI can say your landing gear is up when it's down and vice versa. It's distracting to now have to keep track of your game glass shard displaying the correct data to you versus just using your hardware inputs. You never mentioned that downside in your video. Other members in my org have the same issues with Game glass client becoming disconnected from the software running on the computer so it's not only isolated to me. I'm a software web dev for the day job so if it was network or permissions issues I'd be happy to troubleshoot those but I'm not having any troubles with any of the other apps on my iPhone/tablet as well as any issues network or permissions wise with the other computers (mac/windows/linux) in my office. I understand you're being paid to say it's amazing so I wanted to share my real experience with others in the comments to balance.... in other news I love your vids/coverage of star citizen and have smashed both like and subscribe:)

I absolutely hate when people say "paid to say it's great" it so insulting. Would you say tell your friends the software company you develop is great because they pay you? I'd have made this video regardless if they paid me. The miniscule amount of money isn't worth viewer loyalty. If I didn't enjoy the app I wouldn't have accepted the money. Listing downsides just isn't something you do in a sponsored video. I have had three cheap Amazon fire tablets connected at the same time with no issues. The third and final video will be my opinions where I can, and will, list any downsides I observe including that physical buttons have an upside. Anyway ,the downside is physical buttons aren't labeled and it's hard to remember what they are. I typically just resort to the keyboard in those instances. Also the forge allows you to make buttons instead of toggles for things like landing gear so there is no sync to keep up with. One reason I mentioned network or permission issues was because I have a discord with like 7,000 people and I haven't seen any discussion about disconnects. My reply in text sounds alot more defensive than if I had said it verbally with inflection. I was trying to help.

@@SubliminaLstv My apologizes for making you feel insulted and misreading the tone. Sounds great on the third video. I'll look out for it. Great idea on buttons instead since toggles can incorrectly display the data. Not sure if you had the issue with volume but the default level is 100% on their sound effects and was ear bleeding loud compared to the volume of SC and Discord. I couldn't find any way to globally lower volume in Game Glass so i had to manually change each virtual input one by one in the forge through all the SC shards. No problem, sorry for the wall of text. I do have this issue. When I'm on stream the quantum sound is defending. The rest are tolerable. They do need this feature thanks for letting them know. I lowered the volume on the component itself. I tried looking in the Windows mixer app and can't find GG listed. I'll be sure to tell people in video 2 that it would be a good practice to lower the volume on buttons added in the forge BEFORE copying and pasting throughout a custom shard. Because changing each button is a pain.

If I have custom keybinds for everything, will my gameglass device understand when I press, say, the Power Button? Or do I need to sync my keybinds to the app?

So is GameGlass just using an HID (human interface device) protocol and mapping screen touches to keyboard strokes on the host / game pc itself? Or does it require a cloud connection routing touches across the wire, through the cloud, and back to your pc - like P2P?

I'm new to this so trying to figure this out. How does the tablet communicate with my desktop? Are you running a cable from the PC to the tablet, or are they connect via bluetooth? I may have missed a video, but I need to know how to get these shards on my devices and how to get gameglass to get started on my computer. I have the shards, but don' know how to get them on the devices working with my copy of Star Citizen. HELP!

Nope no issues for me. What does "simply does not work" mean exactly? Black screen? Error message? Pressed buttons and nothing happened?

@@SubliminaLstv I remember that I had to connect it to my wifi. but button presses in game glass didn’t do anything in game. I didn’t investigate further and it might have been an older version of game glass or it didn’t connect to the PC via Wi-Fi somehow.

Sounds like you didn't import the keybinds. And or you use joysticks and are missing alot of default keyboard keybindings because you might have wiped them. Most likely the aforementioned one though.

Subliminal, the issue you're experiencing with trying to set up the ATC functions (Request for landing/taking off services) isn't with GameGlass. It's indicative of the shortsightedness that CIG/Chris Roberts have to the flight/space sim components to the game. The ATC functions should be a hot key to bring up a dialog tree menu system, similar to the Emote screen (or incorporated into the Emote screen.) And we're not talking about something that's hard to do. Both Microsoft Flight Sim X and Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 do this for far more complex ATC calls (Pushback, taxi instructions, requests to take off, acknowledge instructions, etc.) Instead, CIG buried these functions in the chat system with mouse clicks, so systems like the Elgato Stream Deck and GameGlass can't create custom controls for this. And this isn't the only bizarre choice that CIG has made with the Space Flight Sim part of their game. Navigation is likewise broken, with a lot of things missing or configured in strange ways. (Like, why do all the Points of Interest disappear when you shut off the quantum drive or the fact that you can't program waypoints into the navigation system in the same way that you can in all real world commercial planes through their ACARS systems. No, the lack of ability to set up a control for GameGlass isn't the failing of GameGlass. It's a failing of a 10 year old product still in Alpha state.

I have an old 10" tablet I don't want to replace if I don't have to. Using touch portal and it's quite powerful. Wonder how much work is involved to mimic all this on Touch portal and have community made stuff on the same level. Game glass simply doesn't run on older devices. That feature might swing me though 😀
