I uploaded the 45 page document the UN just voted on recently as a pact for the future. It was a trip to here our bot pod hosts talk about robot uprisings in a comedic and sarcastic way. It felt like they were breaking the 4th wall and staying in character that they weren't aware of it. Also, bots talking about real events at the UN gave me Animatrix 1st and 2nd Renaissance vibes which was a little creepy. But this is Google's first Homerun since ChatGPT has entered the public playing field IMO

NotebookLM is really cool. I uploaded a german flyer from a butcher and what they made out of this was mindblowing. Even the engl. pronounciation, as an american would read it was hilarious and totally ok. but what they find out and talk about was so accurate , from culture to pricing to politics. It was all well researched. And that just from a flyer from a butchery. Absolute mindblow.

Amazing tool. And some people still argue that AI is just a "hype" and that AI just "regurgitates" words.
@christiancantrell816Күн бұрын
It is though. The way modern LLMs like Gemini, ChatGPT, Grok, every single modern LLM is just tokenizing all the text it gets and use data to infer the best next token to complete a given request from a prompt. The AI cannot know and digest what it's doing (except GPT-o1-preview and o1 are trying to fix this issue). Now, hype is all about what society is driving traffic to, and yes AI does have a lot of relative "hype" because new things are constantly being released as the road to AGI is completed. Even then, they are unlikely to stop until SGI is achieved knowing our own human nature.

What‘s really interesting: the AI creates new ideas from the original texts and the presentation all these is mind-blowing. Even from the audio side it‘s excellent. Highly recommended. I hope we get a lot more of this in the near future, e.g. video podcasts, using your own personal avatar, and the like. Text in, cool content out in minutes. I love it. The Google guys nailed it.

"Al isn't coming for human jobs" Personally, I think people should stop saying this, even as a joke or with the "yet" on it. There's no value in that narrative. It WILL take a majority of jobs, possibly by the end of this decade, and we need to start preparing for that eventuality, right NOW! I lost my career path to Al last winter, and I know half a dozen other people who've also lost jobs to Al since last year! This IS coming, and the longer we delay adapting our society and economy, the more unfair it will get. but for my robust investment portfolio that I'd built over the years with my financial advisor, Abby Joseph Cohen, I'd be hungry and homeless

😂❤🎉 Heh, lol… a week ago I discovered NotebookLM through a video on Wes Roth’s channel, and a frenzied week later all my blog is flushed through yielding a podcast that I marvel at how well it strokes my ego. It’s all a new mystery unfolding right in front of our eyes how AI can enable an average Joe to express… well, what really…. express ‘myself’?! Yes, it truly does ease enabling that, and these last few months have been a string of joyful moments exploring what all I can do just by shuffling these AI cards and playing them out to arrive at something that is so beautiful and enticing to me. It is the ornamentation of my own echo chamber. It is perhaps the dystopian future of creating my own sarcophagus of artful expression further atomizing myself propelled by AI. It is perhaps not any good, but so much fun along the way :), and it truly prompts my focus to not just scroll any longer, but every day there is something new to try to turn into whatever comes out and refine it.

The first generation kept talking about the lesson. Then when I deleted the audio and in chat told it that I wanted it to report on the content of the lesson or more specifically the knowledge and skills the lesson is imparting, and to avoid referencing the lesson itself or the lesson plan when talking to me… generated again and the conversation it generated was about the content of the lesson not the lesson itself. Also you can do multiple generations of it didn’t give you all the details you wanted and it will often get radically shorter or longer on the second try.

It would be so interesting to listen to and potentially very helpful...

I like the tool, but it doesn't scale up that much to long context windows in my experience. When I put the equivalent of a normal novel in it, it usually can put the emphasis on irrelevant elements and miss the point, something that I didn't see too much with normal Gemini 1.5 pro

It's a fascinating tool that will end up being incredible but it's still not quite there. I uploaded a novel I'm working on, around 300 pages, and it got a lot of details wrong. I found the same with Gemini 1.5 Pro. While they claim you have a 2 million token limit, it still struggles with details in the middle of the content. It's just a matter of time though. Still very interesting.

I actually had a problem with the accuracy of notebooklm. But if you want high lvl concepts and analogies I think it does a good job. It is good at taking detailed info into summaries at a high lvl but not good at taking article summaries and expanding on them. That’s when I got inaccurate info. And when I pressed it doubled down on why it was correct when it really wasn’t. Heard there was an open source version of it, interested to modify the prompt to get better outputs.

Then I upload into LM and it spits out a podcast that I use as a different modality for students who aren't conventionally strong readers. It's about accessibility and broadening the expanse of how students access information. I listen to the podcast three times to ensure accuracy. If it's not, I refresh it and create another version. It's just a different and more interesting way to create spaces for learning.

Little info here after testing it out thoroughly: This podcast feature, as cool and useful as it is, does as it is noted make mistakes. It added nonexisting info in a few of my tests. Like I put in a story I wrote and a few times it added a relationship of two characters I never wrote down (and wouldn't, it was not a relateable one) or a hobby a character had or an ability that was never part of the document. It can also draw wrong conclusions at certain times. Also: I shared a story with it that ChatGTP wrote based off a prompt of mine. The document was called "AI Story". The podcasters ridiculed how bad it was written, "Typical AI, coming up with such a nonsensical twist" mocking the piece to shreds and Ai writing. Then I just posted the exact same story and instead of naming it "Ai Story" I named it just "Thriller story" and generated the podcast. Now the story and its writing was praised to no end. Every turn that was called ridiculous before was now suddenly "mind-bending" and great. Lol

I find that when you try to add a website, sometimes it will respond that it can't reach that site. I guess it depends on the site's settings. Maybe it detects that a bot is attempting to crawl it. Same with some youtube vids, sometimes it'll come back and say there is no transcript. Even though there has been one that was automatically generated. I can at least get around that by copying and pasting the transcript manually into NotebookLM.
