Case, i hope you see this message but i have some very big pointers on subnautica, 1. Scan everything, If you scan everything then you learn more about the world and the game will tell you where to go next, and what you need in order to do that 2. Build a base for yourself Craft yourself a habitat builder and make yourself a base instead of using your lifepod, if you do that, you can unlock all sorts of crazy stuff that will help you in the long run. 3. Take risks There are things that are terrifying, but with time it becomes familiar and soon you will be KILLING REAPER LEVIATHANS in no time. 4. Use beacons Subnauticas map is massive, so using the item "beacon" will make a signal similar to when you were finding the life pod near the floating island. 5. Revisit areas you have been in It sounds repetitive, but some areas have sections that are unaccsessable until you find better equipment later on. Not to mention in order to progress the story in the game, you need to make sure you find all fragments of various equipment. 6. Take your time, and have fun Subnautica is scary at first, but its one of the most beautiful worlds i ever have had the experience of exploring myself, sometimes chat will help you check stuff out but even though they might be trolling and might send you into a spot where you can get killed, at least you know not to go there. 7. Read the pda's The story of subnautica is told through the pda tablets you find and data from scanning things, so make sure you read the info. 8. BONUS CHALLENGE its a rite of passage for every subnautica player, but before you finish this game, you must kill a reaper leviathan. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE SURE CASE SEES THIS, I WANT TO SEE HIM CONTINUE THIS SERIES Edit: didn't expect to cause some arguments in the comments, these are just tips, so case can honestly just say nuh uh and not do these and that's completely fine.

If case never sees this, im grateful i did. I bought the game thinking i had the guts and couldn't even load it. I have a phobia of the ocean and thought playing a cool game could help. You setting some basics will help me feel a little more grounded and safe of i do feel bold enough to load the game. The thing that makes Subnautica SO good is it has such a beautiful world to explore and honestly rich lore. Great resource management and gear path to work through. What puts it over so many other games is that it isnt even trying to be specifically horror for the majority of the game. It just puts you on edge, and makes you know you are NOT top of the foodchain. Then just knowing that on top of how emersive the game is it manages to not just scary but genuinely terrifying. Beautiful and terrifying. Love Subnautica SO much, and I hope Case comes back for a third stream of it, even if we gotta wait a long while to get it.

But the only hostile creature is the Stalkers. 59:32 that blue thing is called a warper. 1:06:25 That was a Reaper Leviathan. If you can hear it. They can see you. These things have eco location.

22:47 sparse reef is the safest place-only have to deal with biters, which can be thrown off with the knife. It has shale and limestone outcrops, and a ton of great neighboring biomes (blood kelp trench, island, grand reef, sea treader path, grassy plataeu...) basically it has everything you need nearby with no monsters. Great base. Only issue is food-you can go to the nearby safe shallows with a magnet thing, or grow food on farms

I really want Case to finish this game. It’s so good. The plot is so interesting and there’s so much gameplay he hasn’t even gotten to yet. I won’t spoil it, but considering he’s only roughly a quarter of the way through the game. I would love to see him play this more. If he can handle normal horror games, this game actually is not that bad besides getting over the darkness and how deep you sometimes have to go.

He’s got a lot more to do in the grand scheme of things he’s less than 25% done with the story after all he needs : the cyclops and prawn suit, he needs to go the lost river and navigate through it, he needs to go to the aurora again for the rocket blueprints, he needs to navigate the lava zone, he needs to get to the base, he needs the ingredients to hatch the babies then he needs to make the rocket so all in all he has a lot left to do
