@@vahlanayru Since you're taking advice, in Subnautica food decays over time, giving you less and less food and water, until it starts to go negative. IIRC it can even reduce your health. Because days go by so quickly, food rots fast. Eat it as soon as you cook it. The only exceptions are Nutrient Blocks, Gel Sacs and Cured food (requires salt.)

Tips for farming: 1. Green plant background -- indoors / Purple plant background -- outdoors 2. Harvest and plant everything. At least one of each, and then you can multiply them based on your needs. Check the stats of the plants and see what's the best to grow for sustenance (I'm not gonna spoil it for you). 3. They grow on their own

Build on top of foundation and put windows and glass roofs wherever you want a good view and the rest, reinforcement walls. The foundation itself will eventually give you such a high base integrity that you'll be able to put windows virtually anywhere without worry.

Lets list down your difficulties and questions, Lana: 1. No, you don't need a waypoint to get back to the islands. The mountain island and the floating island are both covered by domes of mist that you can see from miles away. Imagine you're at your lifepod, and the Aurora is to your right. The mist dome that's north of the Aurora is the Mountain Island where the QEP (Gun) is, and the other mist dome is to the south, which is where the Aurora rendezvous point and Degasi bases are at. 2. The plants are interesting but quite irrelevant, there are better sources of food and water. Gather salt to cure your fish, it was interesting to see you eat rotten cooked fish. Cook and eat promptly, cure your fish when you're travelling out. I haven't tried it, but growing a lantern tree and eating lantern fruit could work. 3. Every incredibly dangerous creature is guarding something priceless. If you see one, either avoid or risk it for a very tasty biscuit. (I took my prawn suit into the crash zone to get Cyclops Engine parts, and the Reapers almost got chewed it apart in the process.) The more the area looks scary, the better loot and booty you'll find, I promise you. 4. Do not skip any purple tablets. It won't happen for now, but you'll regret it so badly down the line. 5. As long as the water is blue and you hear no roars or screams, you're fine. If it turns black and the music stops and you get "Warning, entering ecological dead zone. Adding report to databank" on your PDA, you have less than 10 seconds before bad stuff will happen to you. 6. Reefbacks are your friend, apart from the piggybacking tiger plants. As long as you're close to one, you're safe. 7. Rotten plants can be planted. However, do not consume them, as consuming more than three pieces of rotten food will kill you. 8. Do not eat the gel sacks please, you need them to make aerogel. You'll be making a lot of stuff in the future that needs aerogel. 9. Salt and coral tubes make bleach, which makes TWO disinfected waters. Much better than bladderfish:) Final tips: - The Degasi people have TONS of loot at their bases. However, you're missing the PDA from the island that contain the coordinates for the first. You'll need that. In total, there are nine Degasi PDAs, three Bart Torgal PDAs, Three Paul Torgal PDAs, and one Marguit Maida PDA. They are all marked by numbers. - Scan or grab any Alien tech you can. They'll either help you massively or guide you in understanding the bacterial infection. Also, I highly appreciate you playing the game despite your thalassophobia and your difficulties. Its highly entertaining, and I have come to anticipate your forthcoming videos:) EDIT: "..diamonds for the laser cutter" The diamonds can be found on the Gun Island. I beg you, however, clear your inventory before you go there because there's so much, as well as other stuff you'll really need.

I like the Lantern Tree just cause it's pretty, so I'm happy it's actually useful 😂 I don't believe I've missed any tablets yet, this is good to know God my stomach dropped at the thought of everything going black and hearing that from Alterra. I'll probably just run away from my desk 😂 It sounds like I definitely need to return to that island and double check everything, make sure I didn't miss too much. I'll take an empty goose and empty inventory to make sure I can bring everything back. The floating islands were as far as I was able to get before my own thalassophobia ended my run. I had a breakdown over the idea of going back into the water after being on land. :( My roommate took the controller from me and helped me through a panic attack, and then finished off playing the game so that I wouldn't feel as bad about it, but boy oh boy. You were an absolute champion through the islands!! Well done!

Marblemelons are your most efficient source of food (as far as I know). One small plant pot can take 4 marblemelon seeds. You get 4 seeds by hitting a full grown marblemelon plant with your knife. So you can have 4 marblemelon plants in a pot, eat 3, and then hit 1 to get 4 seeds to replant. Also, you can have a window! After you installed your reinforcement panel your hull integrity when back up to something like 6 or around there.

Just as a note, the trees from the island with the alien gun on it also gives seeds with high water but lower food than the melons but are easier to cut.

Farming: Some plants grow in inside beds, some in outside beds. Clicking on the bed lets you plant things, clicking on the growing plant in the bed harvests it. Whacking the mature plant with a knife gives you seeds to replant, so always whack the first plant of a type to keep your stock going, then harvest others as needed. Most plants take a few minutes to mature. You can build as many beds as you want.

a cool feature that'll help you is the pda pause option located wen you hit escape>options>accessibilities>pda pause. This will pause the game any time you bring up the pda or inventory. More time to read without thirst, hunger or oxygen going down. To answer your question, you can re-pin any co-ords through the pda and even color them. You had the right idea about the marble melons, unfortunately they're so small that you need a good angle to hit them so planting them in that bigger bed is a bad idea if you want to have an easy time harvesting them. Try not to worry if plants rot, you simply replant them and they grow fresh after and they're still good for seeds. For marble melons i highly suggest you plant them in the smaller planters for easier harvesting. You don't need tubes to connect buildings and they take away hull integrity so it's best to avoid them for anything other than decoration, the buildings just need area, so if you pull back a bit and try rotating it should work. For farming, marble melon has the best stats, but can be a pain to harvest but bulbo tree is easy and that's all you should need around the base, the rest can be decoration. Enjoy the game.

Flooding the base for the first time is an experience we all went through😂 Just use wall reinforcement and and bulking doors, I believe you scanned the door there during you exploration. I always find the outside reinforcements ugly and they never seem to fit properly, use it only for outside growing bed. Keep an eye on the the top left corner whenever you build something in order to keep track of your base strenght. Your PDA has options to turn on/off coordinates that you have registered alredy, so you can always turn it back on to go back to places, like the island rendezvous. The best food source for me is the lamp tree, it keeps growing the fruits infinitely, and it also provides some water. The palm tree like is great for water, but since you have to stab it for the product it will eventually break and you'll have to plant another, but it's self-sustainable since having one means you have access to the seed. All other plants are great for decoration.

@@vahlanayru as mentioned above by our colleague, you can put it anywhere outside the base. I should mention that the plants are great for food while near the base since they'll go bad quickly. For the trip you should rely on water bottles and salted fish. This game will make you dance around many times trying to figure out what to do next to advance the main story, don't worry about it too much ahahaha

Eat's rotten food,( rotten food makes you sick) make a crawler friend who just wants to follow you, thinks she can just scoot down a steep mountain, pleads with 4546b not to get dark, names her seamoth Goose ( mine was 4546B cooties), i can not wait for the next episode because we who have played. have done the same things. you working on your phobia and the enjoyment at how beautiful and wonderful and scary this game is. this is my favorite playthrough. Edit it is an absolute joy to watch you play. never be annoyed that you make ingots, you will eventually need them, also again great job

13:22 the reason why the multi purpose room was red is because you need to finish what is being built first (blue unbuilt corridor) in order to continue. Hope this is helpful.

You can see the growth of things you've planted as a percentage when placing your cursor on them, may or may not need to put away the Scanner to see it. Marblemelon and other plants can be cut to acquire seeds, the one you tried was small and close to the ground so may take a few attempts to get close enough to slice. If you get to the point of doing outdoor planters, Creepvines (And a later variant) can be planted with either the vine or the fruit, but only ones planted with a fruit will produce fruit themselves.

A great farming spot for scannables is near officer keens lifepod. When you see blue round things you will know your in the right area. It is very safe with the occasional warper you will need a greater depth modul though. I hope this helps!

In the top left when you build something it says Hull Strength, that means you need to keep it above 0 by placing platforms, reinforcement or less windows and hanging parts of your base with no legs.

Most plants you can get seeds by attacking with a knife. After around 3 hits it'll destroy the plant. Lantern plant just needs a fruit planted. There's both "interior" and "exterior" growbeds, the latter for underwater plants.

Yep, rotten food/seeds can still be planted to grow into perfectly fine plants. Rotten only means that item shouldn't be eaten. Bulbo trees are your best food/water source, with marble melons being a close second with more annoying harvesting/planting cycle. On a per consumable item basis, the marble melon is better than the bulbo tree clippings, but the bulbo tree gives you more consumables per plant and you don't have to choose between harvesting for seeds and harvesting for eating (you eat the entire marble melon or cut it to get 4 seeds). This makes the bulbo tree, whose clippings are food and seeds, very useful for compact food availability if you always have a knife on you, which you need to get the seeds from the marble melon, anyway, but not for eating it. I say "compact" because a single potted tree is all you need, though I always use a 2x2 grow bed for the convenience of never having to wait for any to grow before eating. That math doesn't work out so well with the marble melon, as one plant gives you 4 seeds, so you need to eat the 3 others at a time or: you either forgot to do so and have no seeds or have extra seeds you need to store or dispose of. A LOT of people go with the marble melons, though I've never understood how people put up with the hassle when, at worst, they think the bulbo tree is the close second to it for food/water stat efficiency and it's just a lot less item management. There's a lot of useful things you'll want to plant, particularly for resources. Now that you can plant, especially with outside planting, one seed/clipping is all you need to try and bring back. Once you've got a couple plants grown, you have easy access to the resource and easy renewability of the resource. Always start a farm with a plant you've harvested/clippsed before consuming or crafting, and you'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches!

I'm fine with games that doesn't hold your hands too much for the most part, but the number of people I've seen flood their base and go into a frantic panic suddenly over the years! Almost everyone does it, because the game really doesn't do much of a good explanation about what happen once your hull integrity dips too low! As many people have said, it's an easy fix once you know about it. You can use foundations, reinforced walls or bulkheads. Each of which will add some structural integrity, so you can play around until you get to a style that works for you. Honestly, well done so far! For pushing through your fears and getting further into the game!

Still no regard of alien vegetal life: 7:31 You pretended to grab the marble melon by its leaves and stab it viciously to death! Give me your seeds you round one! My stomach hurt so badly after laughing so hard when you miss crafted that titanium ingot. It's trick to get Marble Melon seeds, but you can still get them with the knife, just gotta stand in the right place next to the growbed. You can plant land plants outside the base but above sea level. And you panicked way more when the base was getting flooded than about depth. Hey, you even live about 80 meters below sea level! I can't hardly wait for more episodes! VERY GOOD, VERY NICE!

Lots of advice on how to farm already posted - but most plants aren't useful. For interior growbed (and you can place them by the walls, and get several in a room) marblemelons (good for water) Lanternfruits (water and food) and Chinese potatoes (good for food) are the best items. One bed of marblemelons, and a pair of Lanternfruit trees, and that's pretty much a solid food and water supply. There's a much better way of getting water, that will solve all of your water needs, when you find it.... You haven't missed it yet though. (Better scanning this time, but there are still a few things you've missed - of course; we all do.) And base building - watch the base strength carefully - when it drops below zero, flooding! You can section of parts with bulkheads, so damage in one section doesn't flood the whole thing. Multipurpose rooms can be stacked. Enjoying the playthough - watching is the closest I can get to reliving my own initial joy of discovery when I played it through for the first time.. And lastly .. titanium. It's the easiest thing to find in the whole game (so much so, that in Below Zero, the PDA makes a joke about it...) You do need a LOT though.

I notice you never made a compass. You can find the blueprints in lifepod 6. Marblemelons give a good amount of food and water but are annoying in that you have to hit them at just the right angle to get the seeds. Bulbo trees have good food and water too but are easier to hit with a knife. The food and the seed are the same so they're easier that way too. The fruit trees have a low/moderate amount of food and water per fruit but grow a lot of fruit on each tree, and fruit grows back on a a tree you picked clean pretty quickly so you never have to bother with replanting it. Indoor growbeds are bulky and take a lot of space. Try a growpot.

You can only connect building parts to already finished building parts. And you don't need tubes to connect rooms to each other, just reposition your character until it turns green and gets properly connected (scanner room too). For example, in this instance at 13:03, all you have to do is get farther away from the building and it'll work. EDIT: The best piece of advice I could give you is to be more daring and try things out more without hesitation. You can't *really* screw up or anything, just experiment with different things, build and craft all the stuff and see what you can do with them. It's going to make your life easier once you understand how things work, but you've gotta try it first.

If you have any lithium left, putting reinforced plating anywhere on your interior walls will help your base integrity a lot more. Foundations are great to put exterior grow beds and solar panels on because you can have a row of them. There's also a much better way to get water (that is until you build another thing which may or may not be a spoiler). Go stab those macaroni looking tubes in the shallows with your knife and combine that with the salt deposits you have to make bleach. Each bleach on it's own will give you two water bottles that give you 30 points instead of 20. Hope that helps, you're making good progress!

Don't worry ... if the seeds are rotten you can still plant them. They just aren't edible........you are just like how I was the first time I played this game. Panic first common sense later, lol.....😂😂😂 my third time play through. I killed the ghost Leviathan by the Gargantuan Leviathan skeleton with the prawn suit and a calculated plan. You got this girl. The keep calm kitty poster is kind of a hidden Easter egg. All the monsters have a pattern. But still scary as fuck. By the way three bulbo tree is the best thing to plant for Survival. Plant it inside your base in the pots and collect with the knife. Eat until your full. But always keep at least 1 seed left. Three planters was enough easily with my first play through. You got this girl....🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 can't wait until the end and see your reaction to the ending. Also continue on to subnautica below zero for an even more mind blower with the story of this planet. 😅😅😅😅
