In regards to exploring wrecks, here's a handy tip: You can carry a 2nd air tank in your inventory, which will hold extra air. When you're lost in a wreck and running low on o2, just swap the air tank you are equipped with for the one in your inventory. Bam, doubles your air time. It took me years to find this little trick, but it really does come in handy when it comes to exploring bigger wrecks or caves. If you play on hardcore, I recommend almost always carrying an extra air tank when you leave your vehicles.

@@aksel2316 It does, but when you're exploring ship wrecks another oxygen tank can sometimes save your life. It's just a tip for hardcore players, or normal players who don't want to risk dying. If you're concerned about inventory space, only bring the oxygen tank when you explore especially large wrecks. Usually you're looting a wreck for a blueprint, which doesn't take any inventory space.

I have to admit this is the most informative guide I have seen on this game. From the zero point navigation to the alternative compass location. In the first 4 minutes of the clip you gave me 2 hours of gameplay trying to follow your suggestions.
@madcourier62175 жыл бұрын
Man these guides bring back some memories. Have you considered a video on possible base locations strife? There's nothing more frustrating than setting up a huge base in what you think is a good location only to have to navigate halfway across the world for a basic resource!
@mightymouse59305 жыл бұрын
MadCourier 6 I feel you there. Frustrating.
@blabla-rg7ky5 жыл бұрын
I can help you with this. There's only 2 locations that are perfect for extended bases: the grassy plateus (yes, in any of the 5-6 grassy plateus), and the Cove Tree biome. These 2 locations are perfect in my opinion, not because of the resource abundance (you can use scanner room outposts to gather resources) but because of the generous space available to put your base in
@madcourier62175 жыл бұрын
@@blabla-rg7ky Huh, interesting. I ended up putting my base in the Grand Reef (Only about 200m down) near to the kelp forest. Maybe I could build an outpost in the Cove Tree area like you said, that way I only have to navigate my cyclops down there once. Definitely building my outpost there next LP though...
@blabla-rg7ky5 жыл бұрын
@@madcourier6217 I have once tried to put my base in the exact same location (at the junction between Grand Reef and Kelp Forest), but I lacked the horizontal space needed for what I had in mind. For the cyclops, is a good (docking) spot, yes, but it will be a small base... unless you extend it vertically. Seriously, though, the giant Cove Tree is probably the best location in the game to put your main base due to many reasons: center-ish of the map (in all directions), serene and aesthetically pleasing surroundings, lots of space, and also lots of resource types. Under the blue, harmless brim I have found ALL of these resources: gel sacks, titanium, nickel ore, copper, lead, gold, silver, lithium (very useful for base reinforcements at those depths), and occasionally I have also stumbled upon pieces of magnetite, ruby, diamonds, or even quarts (not under the brim, but in surrounding areas). Oh, there is also table coral and deep shrooms somewhere around the Cove Tree biome. The only things I have had to bring from the shallows so I could grow them in my planters have been creepvine seed clusters and acid mushrooms, but otherwise you can literally find anything in that biome and the LR biome (including crystaline sulfur, obviously, which is aplenty under the green brime).... Anyway, when building a base in Subnautica it mostly comes down to personal preference, but space and resource-wise the Cove Tree is the ideal spot in my opinion. For a main base I mean, because otherwise you can create small scanner room outposts wherever you like / need

To the Southwest there's a drop-off right around the border between Grassy Plateaus, Sparse Reef, Grand Reef and the Blood Kelp Trench. It's centralized, gives easy access to Lost River, is high enough to get sun for solar panels, is relatively close to most resources and there's even a thermal vent not too far away (barely inside Grand Reef iirc) that you can get access to if you don't mind laying a bit of cable. Plus the view is pretty nice. You have the sheer drop into the abyss and Reef Backs love to congregate around there.

I have found the location of the stillsuit. I didn't think this item was still in the game but it is. Its location is 1,440 m. from zeropoint, at a depth of 210 m., and the compass will be directly in between SW and W while facing zeropoint. You do not need this to complete the game at all, but it just feels good to know I'm not crazy about this item still being in the game. Oh, also the data box containing the stillsuit blueprint is inside a sealed room that you can't cut or break into. The only way to access it is through a ventilation shaft to the right of a closed door. Instead of opening the door, just swim to the right and the vent should be right in front of you. Edit: I forgot to mention that it's in the Bulb Zone.

Extremely helpful, but you did miss a few wrecks. There's one in the safe shallows near a thermal vent towards the back of the Aurora, there's one towards the back of the mid section of the Aurora, there's one or two in the kelp forest (forgive me I can't remember the exact locations of the rest), two in the mountain area, one in the grand reef, one in the southern blood kelp zone, one in the bulb zone, and three in the sparse reef that you didn't mention, along with all the two in the dunes you mentioned not mentioning. They're not as important but they're still there and have PDA's in them.

I didn't miss anything. I intentionally stuck to just the wrecks you need to get the tech necessary to complete the game. This guide is already unbearably long, there was plenty of reason to cut the list where I did.

i wasn't able to find the location of the first wreck. it led me to the "floating" underwater islands. i had the zero point and the compass.

can we have timestamps for special items or the locations? i feel like a lot of people will need to rewatch the video thanks for the amazing guide btw
@willstrife3 жыл бұрын
Should have added them ages ago, but time stamps are available now! Thanks for reminding me to do this.

I can’t find the mushroom wreck if my life depended on it. 😂

Same. Am I blind? Is it not loading in? Oh well. I still managed to finish the game.

i think it would be more clear off if you just said which direction to go for the wrecks instead of which direction will the zero point be
@willstrife3 жыл бұрын
I understand the sentiment, but just being told to go in a direction is far more likely to lead you to the wrong location. You would have to travel in a 100% straight line, something not easy to do. And when you inevitably veer off to one side it will lead you to being hundreds of meters off. Triangulation is not the easiest way to navigate, but it is the best method available here.

The underwater island wreck doesn't have the grapple arm anymore, unless if I'm just unluky and none spawned

I was one of the unlucky ones that had to go to the back of the aurora. Got the cyclops bp parts I needed but lost a seamoth and had to seaglide home. Crafted another one then went to dunes wreck. Had two reapers circling the wreck but went in to get the shield generator anyway. Had to seaglide home again 😂
