This always reminds me of the winter of 1999. I was a senior in high school and working as a cashier at a local grocery chain called Big Y in E Longmeadow, MA. Even though Sebadoh is from that area, only a handful of people that I knew were familiar with em. The Sebadoh album had come out and I can't remember how, but I had gotten a seBADoh bumper sticker and slapped it on the bumper of my 1987 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and while walking out of work one night I noticed a note had been stuffed under my wiper. "Dude, you rock!" it read. "This is Drew and Andy and we didn't think anyone else in this town were into Sebadoh!!! So cool!. I must've played the song on my ride home cuz every time I hear the opening I get the flashback to that specific time, and what the almost empty parking lot looked like. That's my long winded story, and I'm sticking to it.

Man im on a 90's nostalgia ride this morning. This was in the cd player as my band was driving through europpe playing Lo-Fi music, hungry, wet, no money, sleeping in a crampy Van, I'd do it all over again in a hearbeat.

Best decade of my life, so glad to have be a teen in the 90’s, great new music, great shows in cool venues. Unfortunately, at least in Philly, a large majority of the smaller venues disappeared. I miss those times, and the miss the scene.

When driving an old beat up car with the whole band inside was the basis of most music videos. That time when everything was perfect. Somewhere a vhs copy of mallrats was playing. Someone was playing sega drinking soda for breakfast. Some kid was skateboarding chewing bubble gum and when she let you put your hand on her leg while driving, you remember you’ve never felt so alive and free. The click of the tape switching sides automatically was the most technology you needed
@shanelevene4864 Жыл бұрын
That was one side of it... When that car crashed and you always knew it was gonna crash. It could only crash; you were driving. So fast... Too fast... Always trying to escape some place. Somewhere out there was a needle exchange. We mostly all ended up there. Waiting in those orange chairs, reading posters about hepatitis and HIV, a white vision of the past, a melancholic mist drifting in from your travel. That was after we had learnt what life and love was... A fleeting, mystical twirl. Beaten down. Some guy shot his wife and brother. Another glided from the top floor of a tall building. The bands had split. Music moved on. We were all into our solo projects. The room was falling apart. You tried to pawn the door. It was open all hours after that...

@@2tonesg I’m not sure what ‘recent’ means in this context bc Transworld Skateboarding’s Uno was put out in ‘96 and Anthology was put out in 2000. I think a lot of us were in our early teens when these videos came out. So it’s not necessarily the fact that it was put in a skate video, it’s that we’re all revisiting (via KZbin) our childhoods with these songs.
