Greg Dulli clearly bought out the best in Mark Lanegan - their vocals compliment each other so well. Thank goodness so much of it is documented forever. x

They were so good together an both on their own. But this record is a masterpiece through and through.
@TabethaAurochs8 ай бұрын
@@chrisgebauermusicIndeed, it is a masterpiece. I never get tired of listening to it, and I feel it can scratch nearly any emotional itch. If I want it to sound abrasive and angry, it does. Sad and haunting. Nostalgic. And the harmony of Lanegan's and Dulli's voices are joyful and triumphant in their own unique way. 🖤🖤🖤

i love this vid. it fits the lyrics perfectly (...we are the devil's plaything... let your hands do what they will do...) - it's a great contrast between pseudo-innocent fun and deep, deep lyrics and sound. great. and it reminds me of my own childhood (even though i never managed explosions that big...)

I like the down - depressed tones in his voice. Maybe it's just a way of making music but it's a little bit a stronger version of one of my favorite bands "Madrugada" from northern europe - Norway. Very good song. It get's a nine from me on a scale of 1-10!

rossoarancione-- My interp is this--Greg and Mark in general wax poetic on the destructive male instinct-an instinct obviously made more potent by time/imagination combined with 'idle' hands. There are no women in this video, (odd for Dulli), and I think by using young men, they are able to illustrate the very curious combination of imagination, boredom, and destruction. It illustrates the seed of that more complicated, De Sade-esque male (d)evolution that Dulli and Lanegan manifest so well.
@WoozyJos16 жыл бұрын
The video is good, i guess the underlying message is that their idle hands can't do no good. They seek fun in destruction, making weapons and stuff because they are cold, indifferent... "My idle hands- There's nothing I can do But be the Devil's plaything"

Stevedorex, I'm probably making a complete fool off myself by asking, but what is the metaphor exactly? Being a Gutter Twins fan but not a native English speaker, I'd really love to know what it actually means. My guess it has to do with people who don't have anything usefull to do with their lives, and because of that, having idle (unused, neutral) hands? Ps: I'm sorry if this comment doesn't make any sense, but just remember, I'm really drunk while writing it :-)

I think this is a very good video, however much or little it took to make. It reflects the meaning of the lyrics and title - the devil makes work for idle hands. Be doing something constructive, or in your idleness you will turn to mischief and destruction. The guys are having fun with boys' toys, but it's all destructive. And they don't start out with all that kit, they must have brought (created) it as they go along. It's like how humanity devises ever worse weapons as time goes on.

This is the official video. This is what Dulli, Lanegan and Sub Pop wanted.
@josephkyle15577 жыл бұрын
I get the gist...'idle hands are the devil's plaything'....and teenage boys livin' out that idle dream by playing with fire FIRE!...but damn, the conceptualization of the idea found here just so undersells the power and potency of the song. underwhelming.

I'm a film school graduate so we tend to over analyze this shit. I'm also a huge fan, so combine the two, and it gets dorky. Used to get laid plenty until I got married...
@colorblindfool15 жыл бұрын
i think it's based off the saying "idle hands are the devil's playground" and the blowing shit up is supposed to be...i dunno, evil or something. shit looks like fun to me.
