Paro didn´t let Matías set his feet. He kept moving and punching and when Subriel was about to unload, Paro clinched. Matías didn´t have an answer for that. He has to work on these dimensions of his game, that is, using his jab and how to throw punches while moving.

Because there is NO money for that fight in Australia. The Australian government usually put up huge purses for home fights, but ONLY if they are big name opponents. That fight would get 0 ppv buys overseas, or in Australia for that matter. Paro himself is only known to hard-core boxing fans in his own country

I saw the fight 3 times and I even heard the commentator Sergio Mora say “ At least a Draw I saw “”. Now I saw Subriel rock him and let him go, really believe this was a rigged fight and only 3 people know Juan Orengo, Hearns , Subriel ! You know how much a World Belt cost in Europe ? I was there also in same hotel as both fighters. Matias was always in lobby.. Paro was never seen until the face off.. spoke to Matias the day after he said he will be back in few months.. I believe he will come back better as long he keeps the crap out..

Awesome review. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed how friendly Matias was after each round by tapping on Paro’s shoulder. I totally agree with you that the killer instinct wasn’t there. Furthermore, he never threw the amount of punches that he usually does. It seems to me that in order for him to do well he needs to built some kind of animosity towards his opponent to fight efficiently. The few times that Matias was able to connect you could tell that Paró really felt it, to the point that he had to go to the hospital because his ear had some kind of discharge.

Yeah good points, the lead up to the fight Paro was very respectful and even with his comments about Matias losing I didn't think we're so bad, Matias said he would make his suffer but there was no real animosity, exactly. No killer instinct at all. Yeah Matias gave Paro Cauliflower ear. Usually MMA fighters or wrestlers get that, it's basically a swollen ear and it needs draining immediately, hence why he was in the hospital. Anyways. Thank you for taking the time to watch. 🙏✨️

OK, so here’s my take on how I believe it went down. first, we all know that Matias can beat the snot out of just about anyone that’s put in front of him. Hence the reason he doesn’t need a game plan what if just this one time the fix was in,think about it no one wants to fight him everyone avoids him. Maybe this is part of the plan make it seem like he is beatable to the point where he looks really bad in the ring against his opponent, but not beat the sense out of everyone like he normally does You know make it look like he could have lost. Well, I suppose we will never know but you do usually see fighters want to fight fighters after either a bad performance or a less than normal performance. Take Devin Haney, he immediately wanted to fight Regis after Prograis struggles will Zorilla, obviously they saw how Regis struggled and that got Regis the fight, which really worked I Haney's favor cos they dominated him and saw what they saw. Matias needs to learn to box, he needs to throw jabs. The reason Matias performed poorly was because of Paro's gameplan. Matias is only effective on the inside, at mid range where Paro tried to keep it, Matias throws nothing. When they're in close, Paro would hold his ground briefly then either move out or push him back. Matias threw less because Paro neutralised his inside game.

To me though, he actually does fight like he has no game plan & basically, whole heartedly believes in his come forward, Terminator style. I don’t think fighting in his home country helps because there is major pressure on his head to live upto some of the greats of past times. Face-timing other fighters & getting into arguments with them & basically saying “you’re next”, is a disrespect to your current opponent & looking past him. I think he needs to knuckle down & work hard in camp for his return fight now or else he could be in trouble for the rest of his career. I don’t think Eddie Hearn was too happy with him either

This is false. Matias had a game plan against Hawkins, Ponce and Ergashev that all were effective. Matias catches and counters jabs, negates mobility and can fight going backwards. Matias did none of this.

Having no plan. Is a plan. And that plan usaully messes up your opponents plan. Usaully boxer have plan. Fighter dont. Fighter are the one that punch super hard. Hello Henry, EXCELLENT point mate!!! Paro mas very polite in the interviews and even said in spanish that he respected Subriel and considered him the best in the division and that he loved Puerto Rico, Subriel applauded him and had a big smile on his face. There was some psychology there I think. He sure did not want to piss off Subriel. It reminds me when Leonard fought Hagler, Leonard was very polite and complimented Hagler on his skills BECAUSE he saw what Hagler did to Hearns when he pissed him off, Hagler was an absolute animal that night(the best 3 rounds in Boxing history I believe)Anyways, Hagler did not come out like a beast against Leonard and Leonard was coming back from one year and a half layoff. Anyways, that is my take after you made that excellent point!

You are correct. Yes Paro did a good fight but Matias had many chances to win and he just didn’t let his hands go. From 100 punches per round to 40. He looked like he didn’t want to be in the ring that night. I was in person, the biggest let down. I believe fighting at home was bad, and he’s known for no discipline that’s why he goes to Mexico to train. I truly believe he got drunk and party the night before the fight. He looked better in his first loss and he was drunk and high every day instead of training

Paro had a great gameplan. He limited Matias inside fighting by moving, holding his ground and tieing him arm while pushing him back.

Ironically, because their styles are so different, Subriel lost this fight for the same reason Loma lost to a lesser fighter in Teofimo. His approach was so successful, "Give away two rounds, absorb the punishment, discourage the opponent, seek and destroy..." that he was at a loss when Paro disengaged with the two rounds in the bank and got mobile, only doing enough to make the remaining rounds 50/50, depending on the judges philosophy of boxing. Genius level preparation and execution for Paro, pretending to fall for the okey-doke.

That’s true Panda was interviewed at some point during the fight. He was to calm and I didn’t like it. In my scorecard Subriel was losing. Also he didn’t gave him any advice in the corner. Like Subriel we can’t just walk forward I need you to cut the distance behind a jab or using head movement kinda like the peakaboo from Tyson. He let Matias do whatever in inside that ring and he barely threw punches. He just need to kept throwing more every time Matias landed you can saw how Paro didn’t like it. The clinch was Paro key to win the fight and Matias allow him to clinch. On June 15 didn’t fought the Subriel I know.

I saw Panda try and get him going and ask him to throw more combinations but it seems Matias does his own thing. That's a problem , especially at the top. I agree Paro clinch was key. I actually mentioned that pre fight. I thought Paro could be better in the clinch than we might expect. He was. He's strong and has technique

I believe he’s in a stage life where he’s just looking to make some money for his family. He has spoke many times about retiring in 2 to 3 years max that’s only 4 to 6 more fights. I think after his contract with Matchroom he will quit. He seems nonchalant about loosing.

It's definitely not a sustainable thing to show up to a professional boxing fight without a plan. People are kind of to over reacting to his loss, I mean he was fighting a really good boxer you have to give it to Paro and his master class. I think Subriel will be back I don't know if he is going to have a title shot again but the 140 division is still very competitive, and styles make fight anything can happen.

All the points you brought up were exactly the things that were alarming to me. I was extremely dissappointed with the lack of focus he walked into the ring with and at some point during the pre fight Liam Paro did a mental number on him that took away any kind of aggression Matias had towards him. I don't know whether the lack of punch output had something to do with his conditioning which I highly doubt but it's unexplicable to me why he held back when he had his chances to let his hands go in that fight.

I know Paros movement and plan had plenty to do with that and yes, massive credit goes to him. He really excucuted the plan. Btw another fight where I felt one guy was essentially conceding defeat by virtue of his goodwill was Porter vs Crawford.. Porter initiated a fist bump and TBC wanted zero parts of it.. even during the interviews leading up to the fight, Porter would overextend himself to be cordial, and Terrence intelligently refused to break character !! You can’t be 100% intent on defeating ur opponent if 5% of you is simultaneously looking to be kind to them..

6:10 you make an excellent point. Matias body language was completely different against Paro. Matias and Panda both have to be accountable. Not having a game plan is inexcusable. This was a debut fight on DAZN, in Puerto Rico for a title defense and after months of hype. Matias and Najar both should ran a gameplan that negates Paros strength. Paro is the best 140 right now in my opinion. Haney/Lopez/Cruz wont beat him. Hes the most balanced fighter out of the punch. He can box, he can brawl, he can clinch, he can move, he can counter and hes tough as hell. I dont see anyone beating Paro. Matias road has plenty of fruit to pick from GAR came off a loss, looking to redeem himself. Prograis came off a loss, looking to redeem himself and end the 5 year beef with Matias. Yes, all of that stuff. DAZN, fight at home, a title in the way… just to keep 150K in your pocket after taxes is a very good reason to lose on purpose, bet against yourself and make 7 times your bet. After all, they fight for money, to put food on the table for his wife and 4 children. 150K in Puerto Rico is pocket change. Especially for boxers, who are known for not having control over their finances (most of them). I know it sounds crazy, but Matías sold himself to make extra cash. Hello from New Jersey love your videos thank you for your videos especially on Matias so there’s something interesting that I found on KZbin. There is a channel called Fouts boxing theory. They explained how Matias was cheated out of his belt. Please find the channel watch that video they explained how it was done with head butts and holding, and also explain that is not boxing and also illegal. I didn't see any headbutts when I watched it but I definitely saw plenty of rabbit punches and holding which was frustrating. I was surprised Matias did not match him with intense fighting in the clinch like many of thought he would do. Anyways. What's done is done and I'll look forward to the next Matias fight. Cheers 🙏✨️

Yes, that’s what I thought. There weren’t any head butts but this guy‘s channel or gal pointed out each and every head butt they were subtle, but they were there, and it seemed that every time Matias lined up and came forward that’s when paro would come in with his head always down when he approached , then forces his head up and immediately hold. The way i see it is, Matias will fight Prograis win and then fight Paro in Australia for the rematch.

I think the Prograis fight is the most logical yeah for sure. Then a Paro rematch. Indeed. What a way to win back your title. Some ppl have mentioned Gary A Russel which is a hell of a fight but he's with PBC and they will never work with Hearn.

With all the videos and analysis you have done Henry it just seemed very odd and Eddie Hearn just seemed so pleased to see Paro win. The best man won that night but I honestly believe Matias could have been the better man, I mean was it round five when Matias sent him to the corner contemplating coming back out.

@anthonybermudez77 I feel like that looking back now tbh but I didn't catch it pre fight. I was convinced Matias would win. But all of the build up was just off. Yeah Paro was in deep isshh after round 5 and that is what i thought the way the fight would go, I was preparing for a 7th or 8th TKo win but Paro dug deep and massive respect to him. Anyways, cheers. Looking forward to seeing and hearing where Matias is at in the next few weeks. 🙏👊

Matias did nothing it was super disappointing. Especially not listening to the corner but Matias wasn't the same 100% not a cool night. And I wanted to see Matias and Paro go all out not just one of them and Paro was the one putting the show. But it could've been a very good fight like it was supposed to be 💥💥🔥🔥🔥 oh well good vid as always brother.

Yeah absolutely, especially at a high level. It really showed in this fight. Paro had a solid plan and stuck to it. Unfortunately Matias won't really listen to his coaches mid fight so, hopefully they learned a lot from this. 🙏👊
