Join me and I'll show you how to do two adjustments that do the opposite thing... without cancelling them out! Add length at the neckline for high round back & shorten the center back to pick up fabric puddling at the small of your back.

You have described my problem a high round and a sway back 😐 I love the face you are not creating a neck dart this is a much better way for a high round. Thank you,

Oh my, is this timely! I’m working on a shirt and from my sloper I see I have a spine curvature that needs to be addressed. So I have to a HRB adjustment in two places. Then add to this my sway back. I love it!! Thank you.

What a fantastic video, Jen! When my neurologist commented that I was developing a dower’s hump several years ago, I was shocked, dismayed, and embarrassed. 😮 Now I know why and how to fix my shirts and tops. 😊 Combining this with your upcoming lesson on asymmetrical body shapes and pattern changes should be epic for me. Can’t wait to try these techniques!

Thank you for this - just wondering have you done a high round back adjustment for raglan sleeve garment already in a previous video. I am trying so hard to make fitting my number one priority now.

Hi Jennifer, I tried out your approach, and it mostly worked well. However, I have quite a severe degree of rounding, as well as a broad back. Although I was able to ease the longer back shoulder seam Into the front without a broad back alteration, when I tried it on it was tight across the shoulder blades. I’m concerned that I might end up with too much of a discrepancy in the front and back shoulder seams for me to be able to ease the two together. I think I would need to add 3/8“ - 1/2“ broad back, and the discrepancy is already 1“. What would you suggest? I could make a shoulder dart, but I think even that would have to be quite large. Should I stick to the center back seam?

Try to keep the shoulder seam the same length... Measure from the tip of the shoulder to neckline on the original and then make sure the new shoulder seam agrees. If you have a severe curve, you may do better by adding a CB seam...In addition to adding the length you need (in this tutorial), the center back seam is shaped to curve around you.... Check this one out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGjQZnuAg9F9h9E

Thanks for replying. I went back and looked at your video again, and I can see that you did all of the round back correction near the base of the neck. I also have curvature at the level of the shoulder blades, and if you correct for that you get a wider shoulder seam. In a woven, I usually add a shoulder dart, but in a knit you can ease in the difference, up to a point. I think, for me, it may be too much to try to correct. I don’t like the appearance of a center back seam, but it definitely gives the best fit. I have used it before in a T-shirt and it is extremely comfortable, and I can also add the broad back correction with no problem. Another thing I did one time was to add a back yoke. That way I could essentially rotate the dart to the bottom of the yoke instead of the center back. I learned how to do this from Alexandra Morgan. But you may not always want a back yoke, either. I guess the only solution would be for me to have learned to, not hunch over my work so much all these years… Anyway, thanks for your great videos, and for your generosity in all the individual replies.

Check out my new series "Efficient Work Flow for Bodice Fitting"... The first thing is fitting the top of the bodice pattern - upper back, neck, chest and shoulder. (I'm calling this area the Blue Zone)... After getting the muslin to sit properly on your shoulders... work down into the Pink Zone to fit the rest! Hope this helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX_Wd6BuqcR5btE
