that was a good presentation and helpful. I have several ground glass that we have been following for 3 years - it has been stable until this last CT. It was 10mm and now is 14mm. Will be having a biopsy soon - so now just reading up ahead of time. Your post was informative. Thx.

Great video, very helpful, thank you. Wondering why you wouldn’t include focal fibrosis in the differential for the first time point.
@ThoracicRadiology2 жыл бұрын
You can include it on first time point, it is just that a lot of them go away on follow up. Management would be the same which is to do another CT in several months.

@@ThoracicRadiologyWould a 5mm ggn ever have a solid component? I ask this because the radiologist said I had a 5mm ggn in RUL, but never said if it was pure or part solid. Could it be that he means it's pure because he never said it was solid or part solid?
@rishi989 Жыл бұрын
It probably does not if they did not mention it. For nodules of that size it might be hard to tell. The only way to know for sure is to ask the radiologist or look at the images.

53 years old Female . Multiple R lung subsolid to groundglass pulmonary nodules including an Multiple subsolid to groundglass pulmonary nodules including an 11 mm nodule in the right upper lobe abutting the right minor fissure, and two 8 mm nodules in the right lower lobe Thoughts?
@gailpr673 жыл бұрын
I have a 6 mm sub solid lung nodule with ground glass which Sloan Kettering has been watching since 2017. I feel that it is a slow growing nodule and I’m concerned since my father and sister had lung cancer. I think they are watching the solid center. My question is can a nodule become cancer since it’s not going away!
@ThoracicRadiology3 жыл бұрын
Yes a subsolid nodule can be a cancer. But not all cancers need to be taken out necessarily. Depends on how big it is, how fast it is growing, and other factors like your age, health, and preferences.

What is a subpleural lymph node
@ThoracicRadiology Жыл бұрын
people have lymph nodes in the lungs. they are commonly found on the edges of the lungs. the lining of the lung is called the pleura, so when we see a 'subpleural nodule' that means a nodule on the edge of the lung. a lot of times, those are lymph nodes.

If these are ground glass nodules or sub solid nodules (not completely solid), usually what is done is they are followed with CT every 6 months or a year. If one starts to grow faster than the others, it is taken care of with surgery or radiation.

I have a 5mm nodule in the lower part of my right lung, which is non-specific. That is all that is in the finding. I am 34 years old, I am not a smoker, and several members of my family have suffered from adenocarcinoma. My doctor wants to check it in 3 months. I'm very worried, I cant sleep. Can nodules dissapear?
@ThoracicRadiology2 жыл бұрын
Not all nodules are cancer. In fact, they are super common and the vast majority of nodules are benign. lung cancer is not very common in your age group. the family history does increase your risk a bit though. yeah, check it again in a few months with another CT to be sure.
@lilimili56202 жыл бұрын
@@ThoracicRadiology Thanks. But can nodules dissapear?? what is not specific nodules?
@ThoracicRadiology2 жыл бұрын
@@lilimili5620 yeah they can disappear. nonspecific means they don't have any features to allow the radiologist to say definitively what they are.

I know a man that has many ggns and nodules i both lungs and he is as healthy as a race horse. Also a friend had a ground glass nodule that was there again at 3months but disappeared completely by 6 months.

I have a 4.6mm lung nodule and feeling breathless does this usually happen
@ThoracicRadiology4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the nodule is probably not the cause of your symptoms of being breathless, but it may need follow up to make sure it doesn't get bigger. Check the radiologist report and talk to your doctor about it.
