Nice work! What was cool, was to see a real use of the anchor system, when you used it to take the wood grain and used it to drive the wear on the text :)
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan! I'm always finding new ways to use the anchor system and it keeps getting more useful. It's a very simple idea, but carries a lot of useful application.

your stretch in your textures came from the smooth collapsed. You need to change UV boundaries from smooth tool (not preview) to get uv's right at the export of fbx it doesn't keep the "sharp edges and corners option"
@BrentLeBlancCG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Jerome!
@barrygoodofficial3 жыл бұрын
at 1:17 why I only have 2 options just cancel and bake mesh maps? no bake all texture sets
@BrentLeBlancCG2 жыл бұрын
They have since changed the options here a little bit, I think it now bakes it based on what material group it is in
@benjohan45 жыл бұрын
If you want to add more fonts to painter you need to do that in designer first. Just add a text node with your choice of font and expose some parameters then just connect that to an output and then import that as an alpha to painter. You are doing some really great videos and i'm learning a lot about handling texturing in painter. Keep up the good work :)
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes complete sense. Thanks Benjohan! I'm glad you are finding these helpful. Cheers!

Hey Brent. I really like your tutorials and the fact that you do actually engage and answer comments. I would like to ask you to make Mari tutorials in the future and the integration of the maps into Arnold, as there is not a lot of free documentation on youtube on Mari. What is, is pretty outdated or doesn't cover the entire workflow (like the flippednormals one).
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jager, I'm really glad you like what I'm doing here. I will say that I don't know Mari well enough to teach it, but I will definitely be learning it more in the future. If I get comfortable using it, I may start including some Mari tutorials. However, I really have been putting all my efforts into learning painter and they just keep innovating which makes me very excited for the future. Cheers!

Dude, you just blew my fucking mind by showing what is possible with substance painter. All I used to do is bake and throw in some material and add metal edge wear or dirt generator LOL. Thank you so much for this video, time to ultra slow down the video and watch it again and again 'til it makes sense. _/\_

6:30 I see your texture texel density is wrong, all the object should be a the some value texel density. checkerboard :) any way great work :) keep going
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Texel density is more important to maintain within the same object, but you can fudge it a little aslong as you always consider what the relationship is between the objects and you always maintain relative consistency in the textures.

Great video as always! I love watching those. For the horizontal lines you could use a mask fill, set it to triplanar and add an appropriate alpha (like a thin line). This way you will endup having a perfect horozontal/vertical line around your object, regardless of your uv´s. For multiple lines just add another fill and use the "add" blending mode on the same mask.
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andreas! Yeah, one of the reasons that makes Substance so cool is there is so many different ways to approach a problem. I'll try that next time.
@MainDoodler5 жыл бұрын
Awesome as always. Some thoughts on Substance Alchemist? I probably do a lot of non-organic materials for hardsurface models. Should I learn substance desighner or alchemist instead? :)
@BrentLeBlancCG5 жыл бұрын
I would say you should learn them all. I kind of feel the Alchemist is a very interesting tool, but it will never replace the power of Substance Designer or Painter. They all have very different use cases and work very well in conjunction with one another. Thanks for watching!

It's sad .... This video is not a tutorial not at all , it's just a skill show off video so if anyone came here for learning painter , sorry man you are on the wrong channel , it just a video which proofs that this man is too good at painter ... But hay I am not complaining .. Good video , I love your video as an artist , but as a newbie student I can't learn a single thing from this video ..
@BrentLeBlancCG4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you felt that way, my intention is to only help people with process and sometimes my tutorials may not be helpful for everyone. I can assure you that some of my other tutorials may be helpful for you. However, keep in mind that these tutorials are not necessarily meant for people just starting out. It's more intermediate to advanced users. I think many of the tutorials that are directly on the Substance Academy youtube is your best bet. Good luck!
