Hey man, amazing work! Do you have any recommendations for someone who wants to start out VJing? I currently work in EE and IT.

Hey, thanks! Yes I’d recommend buying Resolume and learning that software, as it’s pretty industry standard. If you want to design your own content learn Adobe after effects, and a 3D software like C4D or blender. A cheap projector might be useful too so you can vj stuff on your walls. Just for clarification tho: what you see in this video is not 3D design it’s just a video of lasers.

@@lasermonkey599 Thanks for the reply and great advice!! I took a look at Resolume and will def give it a go! I've also used blender before so I'm familiar with that. As for the hardware, are those lasers your using directly interfaced with Resolume? What brand are they?

@@Sneechy no problem happy to help. No these lasers run off of Pangolin Beyond, which is a dedicated laser control software. I’d look into getting a Unity raw series laser and an fb4 with Pangolin QuickShow, the little brother to pangolin beyond. Great way to start

excellent show mate, how long did it take to program

I can get 90% of the lasers finished within an hour or two depending on how complex/length. Unfortunately it can take three times as long going back and making sure everything looks good on film. And if I get really really picky, it can take hours just to get 1-10 frames perfect.

@@climbingjohn that includes making the actual effects and laser cues, but yes a lot of times I’ll have some unused laser cues that I can use in a new show

Dude your work is amazing. You must of spent so much money on this set up it makes my head spin. I've got one Tarm 2.5 FB4 and compared to this setup I may as well have a laser pen ahaha. Do you run your shows over FB4 ? I'm assuming so. Anyways keep at it man !!

It’s a mixed bag but mostly 10w-20w lasers from Kvant and Lightspace. If you’re looking to get into lasers I’d recommend the Unity Raw 1.7 🤙
