Suburban Not Taking Fuel At The Pump

2005 Chevy Suburban charcoal canister failure can cause a total failure of the emission system and prevent proper venting of the fuel system. If you have trouble getting fuel into the gas tank at the pump your charcoal canister has most likely failed and put tiny parts of coal through out you fuel systems vent lines.

I had the same problem with my truck kicking off the fill nozzle every time I try to fill the tank but found my canister was not plugged. The little carbon BBs inside the canister had gone down the tank vent tube and plugged it up at the point where it attaches to the tank. I had to vacuum the BBs out of the tube and the problem is now solved.

You had it easy. I have had some similar to that and took compressed air and blew the vent hose out but not on this style fuel system

U did fine. I have the same issue only i dont have a lift and a big gurage to work in. It be nice to have a helping hand too. Im hoping i can do it myself or turn it in to my father inlaws auto shop mechanic.

That white clip on the purge solenoid is not supposed to be removed. Just push in on it. The clip spreads and line lifts right off.

I replaced these 3 parts plus the fuel pump and blowed the lines and it still want take gas, any suggestions

Bad charcoal canister can do this or leaks in it. Another big one I noticed happened is the flap breaks and goes down the filler neck causing it to keep clicking while fueling.i know ford's gave a anti drain back valve so you can remove e the neck with out gas coming out not sure if all cars are that way

Hi, I am having the same problem with my 2011 chevy suburban.. we changed the charcoal canister and the purge valve solenoid but its still doing the same thing.. should it have been fixed either way without changing the vent solenoid or should i change that too and see if it works? Also, how can I clear out the codes that come up whenever i fix something on the car? very informative video .. thank you

Check out the Playlist for the Suburban. I had to make more than one video and repair on it. You can unhook the battery for a while and it might clear the code. I use a code scanner with the option to clear DTC's.

Just got fuel pump fixed and now i cant fill the gas is there a chance the shop pinched my vent hose when puting tank back up? Everything worked fine befor i got fuel pump replaced. I disconnected the charcoal canister no charcoal came out of the lines.

That's not good. You may have a pinched line. You may need to drop the tank some and inspect it. @@highlifegoodlife5400

Thats what I was thinking imma inspect it more today and I'm lowering the tank. I seen 1 video that the shop put tank in and pinched lines cuz they didn't run it the right way so that's were I got the idea. When I got keys back from the shop the guy asked me to promise I bring It back if theres problems but I just said hell no in my head. And I called and told them about not being able to fill and they said I'd have to pay them to diagnose it.
