The subway in Warsaw is one of the newest in Europe, the first and only in Poland. It was opened in 1995 and consists of two lines M1 and M2 with an intersection at Świętokrzyska station in the city center. The Warsaw metro is noteworthy in that it operates trains of Russian production (OAO Metrovagonmash, Mytishchi). The network is being actively built and in a few years an increase in the number of existing stations is expected.
As of the end of 2009, out of 40 6-car metro trains, 18 are from France (Alstom Metropolis 98B) and 22 from Russia (15 trains from cars of the type 81-717.3 / 714.3 (1990 and 2007), 81-572 / 573 (1994 release), 81-572.1 / 573.1 (1997 release) and 7 newer trains 81-572.2 / 81-573.2 (2008-2009)).
Since 2012, the supply of Siemens Inspiro trains began.
For the convenience of passengers, the station displays showing the time before the arrival of the nearest train also display the model of the nearest arriving train.
