This format honors the hot teams that squeak out a wild card, while punishing the teams who played better all season long. They need to go back to either 4 teams, 2 rounds then the WS, or go to 5 teams, with the 4 and 5 seed playing a 1 game playoff the day the regular season ends then have the ALDS start the next day. That way the teams with the best records don't have the disadvantage of having to take almost a week off between games.

Don forgets the Yanks limped into the playoffs in 2000 w 87 wins and the Mets, though a WC team won 94 games that year. That Yankee team stepped up when it mattered most.
