Morgun King, Hunter & RO out of Utah, takes a moment to demonstrate how to be successful on a stage at a hunter-style match. [Read More]
Currently ranked 1st in the Open Light Division, alongside a handful of other great hunters within NRL Hunter's 2021 Regular Season, Morgun generously donated his time as a Range Officer where he observed areas hunters may become more successful.
From gear placement, glassing from sighting limits, finding landmarks, to finding best positions - there are many great takeaways here to become more successful in the field.
Shout out to Isaiah Curtis of Curtis Custom Weapons for letting us use his setup for this video. Thank You!

In the army we get taught to scan right to left. As we typically read left to right it's easy to subconsciously skip over things, scanning right to left forces you to have a different perspective and focus on individual targets. Nice vid 🤙

I was saying the same thing in mind haha. Plus as a right hand shooter you can scan with you open left eye to your next target markers between shots going from right to left

I like your 'video' style. I leaned more about NRL Hunter series watching this single vid than a couple hours of Google searching. Keep it going.

ahahaha, seems like he had a "surprise start" on a few stages in the past..."sometimes they don't even say anything, they just go beep" (the look on his face was too much ahaha)

I have marine binos with built-in compass while hunting so if i see something i suspect to be a deer, i can always come back to that number the compass was showing :)

IMO, ideal gear: Rifle with FFP scope. 6.5cm or larger caliber (see rules for power factor), tripod, rear bag (e.g. shmedium game changer), bubble level on rifle, bipod on rifle (see weight divisions in rules), range finding binoculars (easier than binos separate from range finder), data armband (for DOPE), grease pencil/dry erase marker), backpack to stow bag and tripod. Highly recommend base class for new shooters. People are very helpful to base class shooters.

Watching on my phone I never did see the target. Same thing at the Safari. I could see the streamer tapes but never saw the plates.

Are you predominantly left hand shooter ? It appears you prefer a right hand rifle . I’m lefty grew up on right hand rifles . Working with some left hand rifles now and I’m undecided which I prefer . Do you have a solid argument for choosing either ? Good video

@@NationalRifleLeague My nephew introduced me to NRL. He’s competed in a few of these shooting competitions. Do you have any of these competitions in Alaska? I wouldn’t mind being able to watch one of these competitions but the amount of $$$ you guys spend on rifles and binoculars is in my opinion ridiculous. I’ve personally seen my father pull off some shots with a $500 (1980s) rifle that some of these guys are spending 10X that to pull off the same feat.

@@Levidanielz ye might be the Game Changer as a support bag. Took the wrong word about the “binocular bag”, it should be the “pack”. but found it later - Marsupial Gear binocular chest pack.

Michael so basically you just glass and walk away? I have a horrible time with target acquisition but it’s always been under that 90 second period. I’m sure NRL Hunter will be great training for me. Can’t wait to train up with my new range finding binos and confirm my dope. Got almost 6 months.
