A friend of mine was telling me how parts of California that were like this in the 60’s and 70’s , then they built subdivisions and the people planted and cared for the area, she was so surprised to see the changes on a later visit,flourishing life and good air and cooler areas !

Trees liberate water from deeper in the soil and distribute it into the air by transpiration. Trees are rooted deep after a year and wont need the box anymore.

This reminds me of Yacouba Sawadogo who greened the desert with Zai technique digging small holes filling it with manure, mulch, seed and magic ingredient termites that provided a underground irrigation tunnel system. The tree ultimately did the trick. I hope this will make a difference and bring the water back. Good luck!

The product. The water box is small compared to a tree size. The box is only an initial growth booster to protect & nourish the young saplings, not a life long water tanker. Just like you change clothes as you grow!

I hope they will do that in West south Iraq, where the climate is much better. This idea will work great there since there is rain, but the seasonal plant's dray out in the summer. So we need trees over there.

It is possible for this too work but some more attention is required than what is being given. 1) Trees should be planted a little more densely 2) make a hole and fill it with pure compost before planting the seedling on it and placing the water box 3)use larger saplings that are 30 to 40 cm as smaller ones will get burried in dust 4) plant desert shrubs that can fix nitrogen ,specifically acacia tortillis and acacia nilotica 5) place protective fence around each plant 6) ensure that people with grazing animals aren’t allowed there and this rule is upheld 7) engineer the water boxes such that they are larger (about 1 by 1 meter square) and hold more water 8) keep filling the boxes with a check up every 3 months for a few years 9) plant a mixture of trees and low growing desert bushes that tend to cover the ground very densely

You can't do that in dubai because dubai deserts are natural where as in india it's made made because of deforestation and climate change. Dubai is too hot and has low rain fall. It summer it can get 50 degree Celsius
