Such a good video! I'm preparing for a rather large SteerCo on a project and your reassuring tone and great tips in here have me feeling much better about what lies ahead.

I just subscribed and I love this content and video - I wished I watched this before my recent SteerCo. I had trusted the SME to deliver her slides well and what she needed. The top management then literally took each line by line item apart and turned the meeting into a status meeting and then ultimately blamed me. The SME clearly has not been working hard enough or just making excuses for delays. Ultimately it reflected very bad on Account Manager and the PM.

Oh, that sounds horrible! But please don’t feel like this is unique - I think nearly every PM has experience of this or something similar. Don’t let it get you down.

Thanks for this qualitative content, I have a question: What are the common pitfalls to avoid in Steering Committee meetings?

Don’t ever assume the audience are your friends. You’ll talk too casually, will say something unguarded and careless, and will create problems for yourself. As soon as the agenda ends, close the meeting.

In this context, it just means sharing information.
