My poor pleiospilos nelii! I knew I had to be doing something wrong, but sheesh!! My dude must be suffering rn. Though it is putting new growths out, it's just not pretty. Thanks for the in-depth care I don't have much succulent exp but I hope it can be saved. Here's my list I need to get on asap. #1. More light. He looks like he's stretching, but just a bit and now that the oldest leaves fell off the base looks too skinny while it's also started to tilt over slightly. #2. Less water. I'm sure I'm over watering, the first new growth came in, which made 6 leaves. The oldest 2 started dying, but they kinda went mushy after awhile instead of completely shriveling up. I always let the soil dry completely, buuut then I'd water after abt 2 weeks of being bone dry. Oops.😢 Was always so worried roots would die off being dry so long. #3. Less organic matter. I've got a well-draining soil, with large and small perlite, pumice, orchid bark, and a little peat based soil. Looking at it now though, I'm def holding too much h2o.

Can I ask a question? It’s about repotting split rock plants, I have a pot for my plant and succulent soil from Walmart but I know that these plants are very sensitive and I really don’t wanna kill it cause it’s my first split rock and I wanna know when the perfect time to repot it is. I have my split rock in indirect sunlight all the time and so far it’s been pretty good but about the watering, so I only give it a couple of drops of water? So far the old growth on my plant is getting pretty shriveled up but it’s still green

Hey Mc Nugget! So you're asking a few questions here. First is about dormancy, which is when you want to leave it mostly alone. You may may have to put in a bit work to understand which growth stage your split rock is currently in, that will answer most of your questions as to water it a bit more, when to repot and really any opther concerns you have. As far as the shrivelled part, that depends on if its the new growth or the older bits. if the its the new growth, may need to give it a touch ore water.

You could also just use pumice, granite chicken grit, or lava rock for your soil. Also, as far as fertilizer, these do not necessarily need fertilizer either. They are used to growing in poor soil conditions with little to no fertilization. If you must fertilize, a very tiny amount in the spring is okay. It can help encourage flowering.

Hi! I’m a new subscriber! Thank you for information in a perfectly timed video! I’m so excited to learn. How do you feel about and use Neem oil?
@TylerMossop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! I’ve used neem oil before, it’s effective against pests and sometimes I will use with new purchased plants as a preventative measure. How about you?
@christinecrawley80093 жыл бұрын
@@TylerMossop I am very new, like a week, to Neem oil. I treated all of my plants inside and deck. I was told you can spray it on the leafs and wipe it off to help keep the water spots from misting down. So far I’m very happy with it.

@@christinecrawley8009 depending on what you’re dealing with, I would recommend spraying daily for at least a week, you could spray the plants with cold water first that may help too

I saw videos that split rocks get watered more frequently than lithops.

Fair enough, I have maybe watered mine slightly more. One of my split rocks has started to split open with new growth...exciting times.
