wow didn't think I could use the hydrangea, I make over 300 prom pieces a year and love using different flowers. I ran out of the floral adhesive last year and had to switch too low temp glue gun. It works well but I do use Floral adhesive on delicate flowers.
@FlowerSchool Жыл бұрын
That's an excellent point, Barb! Yes, you can use hydrangea if it has been processed well ahead of time and if you are making the piece close to the event. Wow - 300 prom pieces a year is a lot of flowers to wear. Thank you for providing that important service to young people in your community. We appreciate it very much and they probably do too. If you are in need of floral adhesive, we do have it available on our website here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/products/oasis-floral-adhesive-individual-pack-3-9-gram-tube The supply chain issues have made it challenging to get floral design supplies so we try to help out as much as we can. It was marvelous to have you stop by to watch the show, and we hope you will visit us again soon. Best wishes for a wonderful week with flowers!

Tutorial doesn't list materials - how long is ribbon, what gauge wire? Surprised the succulent doesn't fall off with only glue holding it. Gorgeous for mother of the bride

Thank you for watching our show, T M! Leanne mentions her materials at the beginning of the show. She used one succulent, some seeded eucalyptus, and a couple of small bits of lisianthus, delphinium, eryngium, and hydrangea for this design. The ribbon is approximately two feet and the wire is 22 gauge. To keep the succulent in place, Leanne applies glue to glue so that it adheres better that way. Hope this information helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and wish you all the best!

How long would a corsage like this stay fresh?
@FlowerSchool Жыл бұрын
That's an excellent question, Eleonora! The succulent itself is long lasting and the eucalyptus and eryngium are as well. If the flowers are processed properly and hydrated well before designing, then they will last longer too. Generally this kind of flowers to wear piece is created for an event so it will probably last a few days (maybe three - five) and it is quite possible the flowers will dry nicely. Thank you very much for spending some time with us to learn more about this succulent wrist corsage. How long do you need to wait for the glue that secures the bow is dry?
@FlowerSchool9 ай бұрын
Hello again Jessica! You inspired us to watch some of the wrist corsage videos again to see how long it takes. Generally Leanne waits until the glue is a bit bubbly and tacky and she always tries to go glue to glue as we mentioned in our other message to you. The bubbly/tacky stage usually a short while to set (maybe 10 to 15 minutes). She also uses light pressure to hold things in place. You might enjoy this video to see her technique: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5_PpquVaZyZibM Thank you for stopping by to watch our shows, and we hope you are finding them helpful. Wishing you all the best and hope you have a splendid weekend!

My Neighbor just asked me to make one of these slap-on wristlets for her two young daughters for their daddy-daughter dance. I had only 3 hours notice to create the wristlet! I was using the Oasis glue but I didn't feel that any of my rosebuds were really holding. Does this glue take hours to "set"? How many hours if so? I ended up pulling out my low-temp glue gun. I suspect that when this Oasis glue is used you need to know that nothing is holding well for hours???? Please advise. I would really appreciate your feedback.

These are great questions, Jessica! Thank you for reaching out to us about them and for watching our show. We hope the young ladies enjoyed the wrist corsages that you created for their dance with their dad. Our experience is that cold glue doesn't usually take hours to set, but one of the techniques that Leanne always suggests is glue to glue, meaning you place some glue on the rosebuds and on the ribbon or place on the wristlet where they will be sitting. Glue to glue is the strongest bond, and it works really well to hold things in place. The reason we don't advise using hot glue is that it won't hold up in the cooler (it expands and contracts with temperature). If you weren't putting your wristlets into the cooler, it's probably fine for what you did, especially since the dance was a shorter event. If this would be helpful to you, we do have a playlist for Flowers to Wear pieces. You can find it here: kzbin.info/aero/PLJbJF6YZAYyJR_kKJA8x2l0lPTTwg30My We appreciate you stopping by and hope you will continue to enjoy creating these kind of pieces for special events. Hope to see you again soon and wishing you the very best for all that you do!

Quick question, what about hot glue? is it just as good to use?

Never use hot glue on fresh flowers, it will burn them. Oasis Floral Adhesive was designed specifically for fresh flowers.
