Dear African why are we killing each other? Is it because of leadership or resources?

African leaders often resort to violence against each other within their own countries, and the ongoing situation in Sudan reflects this tragic pattern. It’s disheartening to see that many African leaders prioritize purchasing weapons, often financed by loans from Western countries, while neglecting the basic needs of their people, such as food and essential services. Violence and military action should never be the first option. Instead, negotiation and dialogue should always take precedence. Choosing to solve conflicts through war is a backward way of thinking, and it only leads to more suffering and devastation. The statement by the Sudanese general that suggests 100 years of fighting is a better solution than engaging in discussions with rebels is fundamentally wrong. This mentality perpetuates a cycle of violence that harms not just the present generation but also future ones. In the case of Sudan, the civil war has been fueled by deep-seated political, ethnic, and economic issues, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of millions. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is a stark reminder of the consequences of choosing military might over peaceful resolution. The war has led to a humanitarian crisis, with countless civilians caught in the crossfire, lacking access to food, water, and medical care. African leaders must prioritize peaceful solutions for the sake of their people. The focus should be on building inclusive, democratic institutions that can address the root causes of conflict, such as inequality, marginalization, and corruption. By choosing peace over war, African nations can pave the way for sustainable development and a brighter future for all their citizens.
