The Sudanese Army and Omar al-Bashir created the Janjaweed mercenaries from the Arab tribes of Western Sudan (& Eastern Chad) to ethnically cleanse Darfur’s non-Arab population resulting in the ensuing 2003 War in Darfur aka Land Cruiser War. Those Jajaweed mercenaries would eventually be incorporated into a division of the Sudanese Armed Forces known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with their own economy solely financed by the exploitation of gold mines in the east of the country. So the army created the devil it is fighting against today!

@@FNA27601 it doesn’t matter about being “ethnically” of something in Northeast Africa, no one is going around checking your DNA. I speak as someone whose family have a written record of paternal family tree going back to Muhammad’s cousin at the Sufi shrine of my 8th grandfather. It is believing being as such which matters to then have the tribal affiliation that creates the sense of clan allegiances while othering those who are seen as different or outsiders, thus creating a rife environment for ethnic cleansing. Which is something that isn’t unique to Sudan btw, as you can see it across Northeast Africa; in Eritrea and Somalia for instance, despite at times the Arabic language not even being the spoken language by a particular clan yet the Arab ancestry claim is as deep as it is a shared communal believe.

What's with people and power? Everyone wants to rule but lacks fortitude, empathy, and love for people. I'm sure guns are not manufactured in Sudan. So, the guns have to have been imported. Who's is benefiting from the sale of guns in Sudan. Both men deserve prison time, not leadership of anything. The suffering, starvation, and exploitation of innocent people are the consequences of these 2 men's cruel actions in their thirst for power. May God have mercy on Sudan. That’s literally not the reason. It’s anti blackness and the essential normalisation of ‘war’ in Africa as a whole. And uncritically thinking about why and how and international complicity. Here in Sudan the UAE largely backs the RSF and the US and UK specifically know this but give political cover for the UAE at the UN. US gives arms sales to the uae but won’t withdraw even though the RSF is committing genocide and ethnic cleaning specifically towards non Arab groups and in return the uae gets the darfuri gold and fighting their war in Yemen
