This one is nice also, just not nice enogh for me to fuss about it's demolition. 80's decor is not timeless as mid century modern at my perspective. Even though they can raise the chance of leaks, I like the use of skylights often there. Thanks for the tour you two! Stayin tuned! 👍🤠 Notes: 4:39 Old style burglar alarm strips in the glass edging, I bet it was the man's shop. I've a feelin he may have been a classic car enthusiast by the number of garages there. 6:39 I don't know, a mixer and/or pressure regulator of a sort. Google Lens was of no help. 9:16 😆 Thanks Greg, we tried, maybe next time... 12:45 High iron content in the well water. 13:40 A drawback to skylights, they can leak. 13:55 I prefer Pepsi but not enough to paint it on my closet doors, I'll assume it was done for a child. 16:23 This is a much older door and not original to the house, I do not understand. (Looks like an entrance door one would see on a English townhouse. 🤔...) 17:00 Kitchen does show it's wear. 23:21 I guess the underside of the stairs was originally exposed. 25:17 Looks newer, I'm feelin the whole basement was finished a while later than the rest of the house. 30:20 Far too much to be a hoard, one could not use it all in the house in a liftime, somone had a janitorial supply company or it was ordered for an institution. Either way that's storage.
@UncappedFilms4 ай бұрын
Hey John! I know you're not a fan of that era but a lot of people still feel like that's home when they see it. Skylights are always a source of trouble especially when a house goes without maintenance. It seems that's all it takes for them to start leaking and the rest of the place falls apart soon after. Thanks for the great comment as usual I'm going to pin it for everybody to see

What an amazing home! My favourite features were the kitchen and fireplace in the basement. I'd live in that. 4:30 that "hangar-type garage" is called a quanset. (Pronounced kwonset.) 6:40 Although that looks very familiar, it's one thing I can't name. I'm sure someone will know what it is. 12:50 that orange discolouration on the tiles and bathroom fixtures is not rust. It's caused by the iron in well water. It's not gross...it just looks bad. 30:20 those piles of cleaning stuff tells me that they may have been in the business of selling it.

That stash in the garage was definitely not for cleaning that house. I’m pretty sure they were going to sell it for exorbitant prices. Every surface was filthy because the people never washed their hands. Everything needed a deep cleaning. That was soap scum in the shower that the hard water attached to. Otherwise, what a beautiful house. I liked the tour and the good company on it.

What is all this obsession about every feature insulted as "Stuck in time? "Eras" is a much better term. "Old" or "outdated" doesn't equate "ick" or weird. Like society always does, styles will recycle. "New" hasn't offered us much since the millennium . Nothing outstanding or worth talking in today's up-to-date construction. Where's the appreciation of earlier trends and lifestyles? If homes were built with quality and maintained, the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties all have solid styles reflecting time periods of for middle income families. Unfortunately houses about to be demolished have been severely neglected and not been cleaned up or damage repaired. Labeling these lived-in spaces as classic sounds more respectful of the optimism felt in decades where the average family could afford housing that well suited life at that time. You can't go through a place constantly using disparaging remarks and walk out saying, "Hope you liked the tour. It was cool." The homes are cool. The remarks are mostly critical.
@UncappedFilms2 ай бұрын
Hey Karen.. I'm surprised to see you think I'm disrespecting/insulting these places by referring to them as stuck in time... I thought it was pretty obvious that I enjoyed this house and others like it.. I certainly appreciate how things are done, so your take on the video caught me a little off guard. I generally don't say anything bad about anything I see, unless it's actually gross.. Thanks for watching and commenting, I hope you can clarify what you meant..
@karenfitzpatrick62562 ай бұрын
@UncappedFilms I'm sorry if I sounded rude in my comment. Somehow I just felt like you missed some important attributes about the wonderful lifestyle that this place was built for and the years it served the family. Rewatch it if you get a chance and look for the emotional attitude. Kind of "Nose In Air" "yucky," "outdated," "nasty," "what were they thinking," "I'd Never..." Not quoting words, of course. But the overall the impression seemed like, "We sure get why they're ripping this sad old place down." I really get that this style isn't "up-to-date" and certainly not everyone's taste. But I saw this same house showcased on another channel's tour where there was real appreciation for this seventies/eighties era style and the quality and personality of this particular home. It has probably already been yanked down so the new "mansion" could be built. The property will be so far out of reach of even a dream for most average working families when they're done. And this Was an example of a middle income type home, that today's family could not come close to affording. There is such a need for moderate homes! Personally I wish there were more repair and upkeep if existing homes instead of ripping them down to upgrade the property completely out of a working class market. The basement here was so heavily water damaged and the mold a huge problem. I'm unsure it could have been fixed. I don't think they tried. I really did like the ceiling fixtures here. And the open but winding paths through the space was curious. You don't see this style often and they were classic to the age. The house had a built to suit floor plan and the history of just One Owner. So much to give it somethings worth appreciation. This is all just my one personal opinion of course. I sure don't mean to offend you. To get a viewer like me into the story you're showing, I'd love to start with a general location . Not the address or even the nearest community. Just the Country, then State, Province or Territory would be enough. And when you're there investigating, maybe look for and point out the special things unique to that place that show the interesting, even quirky personality about the property. I mean that's what you're there for right? Have a great day and keep on exploring! ❤️
@UncappedFilms2 ай бұрын
@karenfitzpatrick6256 I'm not offended at all. I just didn't think I was giving that impression and I was not sure if you actually watched the entire video or not. I tend not to point out things in a negative way because I enjoy a lot of the aspects of how these places were built before. Whether it's 80 70s or 40s. They all have unique characteristics for their era that I enjoy. I also like to point out a lot of classic great features. Please don't think that I thought you were rude. And please don't think I'm being rude with a short answer. It's hard to answer that comment on my phone. Check out some of my other videos and I think you'll see that I do appreciate how things used to be. Thanks for replying again
