@@SudokuGuy Ha ha ! I don't know any one else who does these !! I've been doing them for about 15 years. When I worked there was a daily paper that had one in it and I would do it on supper break. Most of the time I finished it (so they must have been really easy because I didn't know the techniques that you are showing). Occasionally I would mess one up but not often. I already subscribed a couple of weeks ago. If I ever run into any one who is interested in learning how to I'll certainly recommend you so they can get started. Most just look at me amazed and tell me that they could never do them. I've even done a few of the "triple" (boxed together) type ones. Those are definitely a harder challenge.

Hi Robin, First thank you so much for all your videos , it helped me a lot. I was very happy to show this rectangle pattern in a block technique to my husband who is already quite good and did not know it, but he does not understand why ? For example , why the 3 of the first block cannot be on the first line of the third block ? Would you be nice to explain me the logical reason ? Thank you so much
@SudokuGuy
@SudokuGuy 4 жыл бұрын
The 3 Has to go on cell 7 of the 3rd block for 3 reasons. Firstly It cannot go in block 1 anywhare and secondly it has to go there because of TMB and thirdly because it is the only place it can go if block 1 has 1,2,3,8 The 3rd row has to have a 1238 in blocks 2 and 3. Hope this helps. Jeanne.

I bought a 10x7" dry erase board and used narrow tape (for crafting and scrape booking) to make one but it's too small. I'm going to buy a bigger one and use permanent markers to draw the outline. After many uses the tape is peeling off on the ends of the grid in places (erasing numbers causes friction). Nothing lost on the board (found at Walmart) it was less than $2 (for that size) and the tape $1 at Dollar Tree. More expensive for the larger ones. $7 - $9 but I'm using it a lot.
@SudokuGuy

Good on you for trying. My tape was baught at a ato supply store. It is tape that is used for detailing. My board cost a lot more ...about $4.00
@djg5950
@djg5950 4 жыл бұрын
@@SudokuGuy I was watching lesson 7. I completed the puzzle before watching the lesson and didn't run into any problems. I thought about using detailing tape but thought that it would be more expensive at an auto parts store so didn't look for it. I just bought 5 rolls of decorative tape for $1. Worked ok up to now (about two weeks and dozens of puzzles later it is peeling off so I'm back to trying something else. I have several "hard" puzzles in a Dell "Totally Pocket Sudoku" (volume 113 if you want to find them) that, so far, I haven't watched a video on how to solve. Working my way up though you lessons (I did watch a, think you called it a "paddle" one, but that was too far advanced at the time that I watched it - about two weeks ago). I've done all the ones in the book that I can (it has 124 puzzles) and I'm trying to learn advanced techniques to complete the rest. Love your videos better than the other guys who show us "how to" because you are easier to follow. I watched one guy solve a NY Times puzzle sent to him by a woman the other day and he did it so fast and had dozens of matching pairs and I was totally lost as to how he noticed them. I would had had to rewind quite a few times to see it so gave up. Thanks for your response.

The cross meet technique is very similar, no? Instead of looking for cells in which a number can be placed within a 3 by 3 block, you are looking for them within columns or rows.

Well, may be I missed something in your explanation, but I've just found on one puzzle that I cannot write here but I think I can give you the link here on sudoku9x9.com , when you get there, you type the number of puzzle under the blank grid: (College Level) : #60854956 and on this one you got on the 2nd box on top a 6,3,4 and 1. If I understand well your technique, you go down the 6th column at row 7 and the number there should be 6 and it shows wrong digit when I check with the cpu if everything is ok so far by clicking on the check button and also when I continue the whole puzzle I get stuck. May be I made a mistake but it seemed ok with lcr and tmb and I also noticed that when you have more than one choice on the same row or column, you have to check it out first also .
