hi Robin, do you have a video just on "Rules of exclusion" only? Love your teaching method, makes it so easy to understand and it's fun.

I cover this in lesson #6, tutorial #2, tutorial #35, and tutorial #82 You will find all of these on my channel page here: kzbin.info/door/d8JaOdfEWcJOtwG6YayW0w Robin Have fun. It is important to know this rule.

Robin, you lost me with your rule of exclusion when you put the 7 in block 3 column 8. You said that a 7 couldn’t go in block 6, column 7. I don’t see why it cannot go there. I am relatively new to sudoku so I am pretty sure that there’s a perfectly good reason why the 7 cannot go there but I just am not seeing it. I would appreciate it if you could explain it to me. Thanks in advance for your time. BTW, I love your website and use it all the time. Sincerely, Linda Horton
@SudokuGuy2 күн бұрын
You are correct! The 7 cannot go in block 6, column 7 due to a rule I covered in an earlier tutorial. Please go back to lesson 6 ,Tutorial #2 ,tutorial #35, and tutorial #82, and review. You will find these by going to my channel page here: kzbin.info/door/d8JaOdfEWcJOtwG6YayW0w Hang in there. It takes time to learn Sudoku. hang in there. Robin

question for the community from a beginner: how do you tell which "arm" is the legit direction? E.g., in the "T" shaped 5's example, you could argue that the eliminated 5 was actually X (while Y remains Y), and that would run you into problems. Does it have to extend only on top of the T and not the side? What about other shapes in the Empty Rectangle situation? Slightly unsure how to identify the right conjugate pair vs. X. Thank you in advance!

hello sir, at 5:35 why is that a matching pair in the early stage of solving the puzzle ? a 4, 6 or 7 can compete for those 2 spots? please explain if possible. Thank you
@SudokuGuy9 күн бұрын
There is a 4 5 in col 3 and 4.5 in row 8 therefore the 4. 5 must go in where I put them. Another explanation is that the 5's in bl 7,8 and 9 means that row 7 must have 2 5s in block 7 in cells 1 and 2. TMB The 4/5 In col 3 means that you can't have a 4.5 in block 7 col 3. LCR . I hope this help you understand. Robin Hang in there.

Chat, does anyone know the reasoning behind this?
@SudokuGuy10 күн бұрын
Good Question. If you try and include the etxra cell with the arms of the clock, system it will not work. In each case we have 3 little numbers involved and when a cell has another number e.g. a 1 then the 4 in that cell cannot be used. In each scenario, a cell which has a different number becomes the big number e.g. 1 I hope this helps.
@magdalenamiamor66789 күн бұрын
I think, the way it makes sense to me is this: The shape means the shared number must exist in one of those slots, therefore the rest can be erased, determined by the shape the number makes. What I don’t understand is why that shape is a rule. I understand enough to apply it, but the curiosity continues
@magdalenamiamor66789 күн бұрын
It only works to eliminate numbers on the x-z line?

At 12:43, if 3 and 6 were not there (i.e., if both cells were empty), would the number 4 still in the middle? If so, could you please explain the logic? Thanks!
@SudokuGuy11 күн бұрын
Yes it would still be in the middle because of the rule of TMB It may not be in that spot, but it will be in row 2 cell 4,5 or 6. I suggest you go to my channel page to understand lesson 1 where I explain the TMB rule You will find it here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZzHqJujbKyAb5Y and here : kzbin.info/door/d8JaOdfEWcJOtwG6YayW0w Hope this helps Robin

Great lessons. But for this one I have the same problems as some of the comments below. At time 5:20, you say *if* but they are small 5/8 numbers. Should they be big numbers for this logic to work?

It could be either a 5 or an 8. That is why I show them as small numbers. Robin
