Row 1/Colum 7 has a hidden single; it's the nine (looking down col 7, you see it's the only nine in the column- a solution for that cell)
@SudokuGuyКүн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I looked at the puzzle closely and don't quite understand what you mean by row 1 col 7. I don't see a hidden 9. Did you look at the whole puzzle being solved? Just for interest. I covered a lot in this tutorial Robin

If the PIVOT becomes a 5 why are the '1s' elliminated from the top row? many thanks for the tutorial - steve
@SudokuGuy7 күн бұрын
Hello Steve I must apologize. In the last example I discovered that this can only be solved using the 5 as the pivot number. Out of millions of viewers world wide you are the first to point out my mistake. I will correct it as soon as possible. Robin.

@@SudokuGuy Hello Robin, thank you for your prompt reply. Being a relative newbie to Sudoku and a retired teacher I find your KZbin sessions the most engaging from the others. However I also find the difficult Sudoku puzzles almost impossible especially when it comes to resolving "hidden pairs" as I usual end up with two to choose from. How can we decide which is the correct pair.

They shouldn't be. thanks for your support Steve. I hope you read my reply. Robin

If you can solve very difficult puzzles without using small numbers I greatly admire you.I But yes you need to learn how solve without the assistance of putting in small possible numbers BUTwhen you reach the high level of difficulty then you will find adding small numbers helpful. See tutorials #69 and above. Robin
@Cveng1-w5m10 күн бұрын
@SudokuGuy thank you Robin. I will try. I always did easy to very hard sudoku by placing the small numbers and used the techniques but for the current book my strategies changed. I was doing the same thing for the easy ones placing numbers. By the time I reached 50% of medium ones I started doing all by direct method. Next is hard ones. Let me see how I can handle them. My strategies are evolving over time. I really appreciate the effort you put in your videos. Thank you.

I appreciate this video. Thanks for making it! I’ve been watching all your videos the past month, even 9 years after you started making them. However, I’m not sure what these patterns are helpful for beyond what you already taught about tmb/lcr? In other words, if I just use tmb/lcr methodically, doesn’t it accomplish the same thing? I’m not seeing an advantage with these patterns, just another way of doing the same thing. But I must be wrong.
@SudokuGuy13 күн бұрын
You are correct, tmb/lcr are the basic building blocks. These patterns help to make the process faster and quicker. You are right, however they are just the beginning. There are more tricks to know as you progress. I cover them if you wish to solve harder puzzles. Hang in there. Happy New Year. kzbin.info/door/d8JaOdfEWcJOtwG6YayW0w Robin

I had to pause your fabulous tutorial to come to the comments to say - I’m amazed that you know all the numbers to everything you cover on each tutorial! (I shouldn’t be!). I taught myself how to do Sudoku from Beginner to Very Hard. (I felt like it was cheating to watch tutorials haha.) But I got to the point that I needed to learn techniques to be better at the Very Hard and have a shot at the Insane. Thanks so much, Bob! You’re a wonderful teacher!!! 🎉🏆
