Sorry Bernard, but Richard nails it (with a poppy sensuality).

I'm a big Bernard Butler fan, but none of you can say Richard Oakes didn't nail this song perfectly. I feel he gets a far nicer tone out his guitar than Bernard was ever able to live, and he's a lot of tighter. Butler was the better song writer though.
@stthbldt35945 жыл бұрын
nicer??? hardly...
@Alex-yb2pq5 жыл бұрын
I can say that Oakes did not nail the song, he didn't. I barely heard the guitar, there was no soul or energy on his part. Butler played heavy, reckless, and dramatic rock and roll, just what Suede is famous for.

@@Alex-yb2pq You are right, but Richard surely brought a few hymns to the canon.
@OingoBoingoTapes3 жыл бұрын
The volume of the guitar is because of the sound technician mixing him far too low during the performance, nothing to do with the guitarist.

He still is! Saw them last night and the people from the first row were literally unbuttoning his shirt, touching him everywhere, his moves are exactly the same (and everyone else's in the band). Not much has changed in the 20 years time.

nothing wrong with the guitarist, he plays it different and i like what hes done. i prefer bernard of course.

He is changing between lead notes and the rhythm riff in the recording which I think is what Bernard would have done without a second guitarist

Do you mean the mix? If so, the bass is mixed too high. If you mean the performance... i dont get the issue, its a great live performance.
@AshtonArcher17 жыл бұрын
Are some people deaf? This is a shocking performance! It's not mixed properly at all! Bad, but nowhere near as bad as Animal Nitrate on the Danny Baker show a few months aftrer this performance.

Does anyone know what guitar he's using here? I'm after a new one and want to go for the more Bernard Butler hollow body style (I know it isn't him, but you know what I mean...). I've no idea what to go for, I've been looking at an Epiphone Riviera which seem really cheap.
