Hi Sue, BEAUTIFUL!! I make Borax crystals and then crumble them up, add them to the epoxy and this gives a foam look. I like the shimmer look like yours. So, next time I think I will go with the acrylic stones! Great idea I never thought of. Thanks again for another awesome creation.

Hi Sue, I really admire your work. I am an Abstract artist that also work with resin. I just recently tried making resin bowl, unsuccessfully three times. Now I am trying for the fourth time. Waiting for it to cure, in its molded shape with a vase. May I ask what type of resin are you using? I have tried two different types now, and I'm trying the first one again.

Sorry to hear your first attempts didn't work. What was the issue? I use a standard (coating) resin from U Resin, although, I know of others that have had good results with Stone Coat and Pro Marine. I haven't used either, so can't give you any tips. Sorry.

Not all plastics stick to the resin. You need to experiment to see which works the best. 💕

I was talking about the plastic under the resin. The ones I use don't stick. I used florist plastic, I don't know the brand. You can use plastic shower curtains. All resins are different, so you need to do some testing.

these bowls are beautiful Sue! the UV resin you use... do you need to put the piece under a UV light to help cure the piece? Can any other resin be used ? also, can alcohol inks be used instead of India Inks? (sorry for all the questions!!) I just ordered your book as well … really want to try some free form pieces as you have done... thank you for your videos!!

Thank you 💕 you don't need to place this resin under UV lamps. The UV in the title, simply indicates that it has UV inhibitors in it, to protect it from UV light, thus slowing down the yellowing process. You can use any other coating epoxy resin, although, you will need to do some experimenting to find out your curing times etc. you can also use other inks, including alcohol inks to tint your resin. Again experimenting is the key to good results. 💕

The timing varies and depends on a number of factors. The brand of resin, the temperature of your room and how thick your resin is etc. you have to keep an eye on it and wait until it is no longer sticky.

Resin can be a bit daunting at first. Start off small and then as you become more familiar with it, then start creating bigger pieces. It is not as scary as you think. 💕
