You are such an inspiration to so many and so generous with your time and expertise! Thank you! May I ask question? I tried this and waited 5 hours but when I went to place the resin over the bottle, it was still extremely sticky yet difficult to bend around the bottle. Was my resin cured too much? Or was it too thick? What do you think? I am in the US and use KS resin from the US.
@SueFindlay4 жыл бұрын
Thank you 💕 I have never tried KS resin, so can't comment on it. I will say however, there can be a number of reasons why you were having issues. Is your room too cool? Cold resin takes much longer to cool. Did you mix your resin enough? Sticky spots can be a result of not mixing enough. The thickness of the resin could be the reason for the difficulties in bending. 💕

That is so lovely!! I love the shape and the colors. :) I hope you won't mind some tips? When you are done with your brush for resin put it in rubbing alcohol, the higher the percentage the better. I use that to clean my resin brushes all the time. :D Don't let the resin cure though. It is much easier to do it while the resin is still wet. Also for the last fiddly bit of getting resin into the base you could try a turkey baster. :) I have used a small open end medicine syringe for smaller pieces but for something like this I think a turkey baster would work better. :D Hope some of that helps. - Heidi

Maybe i missed it, but how long did the leave the resin after putting it on the bottle? Over noght? It doesn't seem fully cured when you are trimming.
@SueFindlay4 жыл бұрын
It was overnight. The resin I was using was quite soft and takes over a week to fully cure. 💕

Sue all your sculptures are so beautiful. Question if you don't mind: I've used skinny tops and notice that the center starts to pull away. What I have done to keep the piece is to pour more resin after it has dried. Have you had this issue and if so how did you keep the circle from pull from the rest of the sculpture?

I haven't had this problem. More resin would do the trick though. 💕

And thank you again this is truly beautiful looks like something that would cost a small fortune at a home decor store and blue is my 2nd to favorite color purple is 1st lol.
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
I haven’t used wax paper, so don’t know to be honest. The only thing I can see is that you won’t get the same curves as a bag, what with it being thicker.

This is amazing. I'm so inspired by your unique creations. I do have one question: Are all resins able to cure at such large depths? I though it was a maximum of an 1/8 of an inch with non casting resins. Perhaps U Resin is different? If so what type of U Resin do I need to buy to make a sculpture with a deeper base. Thanks in advance.
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
You are right about the depth of resin for non casting resin. When you pour large depths the resin curing time increases dramatically. The base of this piece cured much faster that the rest of the piece.

Very different and beautiful, you inspired me to try out to make something like this. THank's for Sharing. This is so soft and flexible, just want to know, did you used the hardner or just the resin? If you used the hardner then what is the ratio to make this flexible?
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
I followed the resin instructions 1:1, I don't deviate from this. How flexible your finished piece depends on the brand of resin. I tend to leave my pieces to cure for at least a week to make sure it is fully cured.

I think your sculpture is beautiful. When you trimmed the long pieces didn't it leave the edges blunt, instead of being rounded like the others? Could you put the heat gun on it to melt the blunt edges?
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t find that to be a problem. I added more resin to glue them together, I guess it running to the tips helped sort that issue out.

Very, distinctly cool sculpture!! I'm still at the stage of trying to mix resin to the correct ratio. My latest, I thought I had done exactly 2:1 but 3 days later still sticky/not cured. Maybe my resin is out of date; I'm getting ready to give up.😤 Paradoxically, I'm determined that it will NOT beat me, lol....💁♀️🤦♀️ You make it all look so easy. How many times have you been told that? Kudos. Tyfs.C😊🐾
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
If I had a dollar for every time I was told it looked easy 💕 Are you following the instructions for your resin carefully? Some recommend measuring, whereas others recommend weighing. Also, are you mixing it for the allotted time? I find transferring your mixture to a fresh cup and mixing further, eliminates any areas that have not mixed properly, like the bottom and sides of your cup.

So, in the beginning, you leave for 5 hrs to cure then put over the top of a vase and leave for 24 hrs?
@SueFindlay5 жыл бұрын
Yes, pretty much. Times vary slightly depending on the time of the year and the resin you are using. I recommend that you pour a small sample amount on to plastic and work out your optimum time to move and then leave it to fully cure. Seeing how it bends and cures, will give you a good insight before you commit to a whole project 💕
