I initially created this video for the Patrons of my Patreon account. Now that I have closed the account, I have decided to go through all of my unlisted videos and make them public on KZbin. There is already a time-lapse of this video on KZbin, however, this one goes into more detail.
In this video, we start out by pouring onto a flat surface. I used old round plates and covered them with plastic bin liners. Next, I show you how to move it to the vase for moulding and shaping.
Also in the video, I go into detail on how I apply the resin to a glass vase and how to tidy it up. The end result is that you get a water splash effect on the cured resin, that the vase can sit inside.
Materials used:
• Resin: Standard UV Resin from U-Resin: bit.ly/StandardUVResin

Thank you, you should, it is fun to do. Note, I created this in winter, so had quite a long working time. If doing this during the summer months, reduce the time you wait until you move it. The resin should be just past the sticky stage, so that it is still soft and bendy. You can test it by picking up a corner of the bag.

Amazing Tfs!! The only question I have is in the beginning with the glass vase you covered. Was the resin mold easy to unmold from the glass vase that mimics the exact shape? I didnt see any special prep for the glass and there was no plastic or other barrier between the glass and resin. It appeared you poured the resin straight onto the vase? It would seem difficult to unmold but maybe Im wrong!! 😁 💖 It all came out beautiful!! Thank you!!

@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
I used two slightly different sizes of vases. Just so that they would fit inside each other. If you only have the one vase, you can drape one on top of the other, just remember to place an extra layer of plastic between them. It makes it easier to separate, I learned this from experience. 😉

I don't make coasters, so can't help with that. As for wall pieces, you could use the formula of material costs x 3, or work out your time + material costs x 2. Whichever you are more comfortable with.

Wouldn’t you mind giving me a guesstimate of how much resin I’d need for one bowl instead of 4? I just hate to have left overs 😉
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 4 жыл бұрын
All depends on how big you want your bowl to be. I normally pour what I have left on to the plastic sheet, then decide what size vase to drape it over. If I need a particular size bowl, I use an online resin calculator to get a rough idea how much to mix. www.uresin.com.au/art-calculators/

This looks simple but it's not, I tried it but failed to create one, and I am little bit curious and have some questions about it, How much quantity I should take for each layer and how long I should wait for it to set in the plate before I take it on the vase to cure?
@SueFindlay
@SueFindlay 5 жыл бұрын
How much you need depends on the size of the plate and the time to move is going to vary at different times of the year, as temperatures play a big roll in it. I generally wait until the resin is no longer sticky before moving. Sorry, I can’t be more specific, but there are so many variables involved.
