My dad got me a climber stand for my birthday, and its absolutely sick!! I would say its the best stand all around, if you use youre harness, wich you should no way around it youll be fine , ive already had a slip . But i was strapped to the tree and the bottom platform ended up gripping the tree when i slipped and my tether was tight. But it's awesome for being able to move it around for different time of the day , if you know some spots you can go to.. you can just climb down and go , plus . Its fun climbing up the tree in youre stand , idk why but it just adds to the experience. Ill probably have this stand the rest of my life , specially since my dad got it for me . I got the guide gear stand . Not the deluxe, wich the deluxe only has different bungee cords , and bottom platform i rhink is slightly bigger , for me im a tall thinner dude so the platforms are plenty big enough . I recommend a climber stand to anyone who will take the time to be safe about it , as in as you go up the tree , stay harnessed to the tree , may take extra time but do it. Falling from a tree will no doubt break youre bones. You take a harder hit falling straight down than falling with forward or backwards momentum always remember that. , good luck hunters , check out the guide gear stand , its affordable and pretty damn safe . Awesome bday gift for me .

I’ve had my LW hand climber since 1999, & I’ve been climbing exactly like that for years. I’m 61 years old , but have been lifting weights off season for 30+ years. All your tips are spot on, also I’m constantly checking bolts, belts & condition, everything’s been replaced on mine a few x, but works excellent. I’ve climbed up a tree & down a tree with a deer in sight , quiet enough not to heard. Nice video. 👍

Thanks for watching and commenting! Good tips on checking belts and bolts. You can finally get belts again from Lone Wolf Custom Gear!

I love my LW hand climber, been using it for about 15 years now. This was a great video. I learned a faster way to climb. One suggestion would be to carry a small folding hand saw to trim small branches/limbs that can get in your way. Good job!

A hand saw is an absolute must! I did forget to mention it but always have one in my pack. Thanks!

The foundry I used to work at poured the platforms for lone wolf. They were a huge pita if anyone was wondering.

Hey man great videos you put out! I would definitely use the strap to connect both sections together man, especially you got a family to come back to !! Good luck this fall bud

Been using climbers for over 20 years and had my platform fall, just once. It never fell again and one day you’ll learn as well.

Yeah it’s called tie them together
@RDO156
@RDO156 2 жыл бұрын
@@MajorHoss exactly. Also helps if you know what part of the stand should be tied together. Pulling up on a tether/rope to bring up the platform is much easier when it’s tied off correctly. I’m dating myself but when I got my summit viper it came with a DVD. I actually watched it, others should too. There’s a lot of “How to use a climber” videos that lack information or give misinformation.

Nice video and good tips. I love my LW climber. I’ve gone to my LW Alpha and just picked up 32” Novix sticks. I use a lineman rope so I’m attached 100% of time. I only go up once and I can be up the tree and hunting in about 6-10 minutes on average. I’ve used them all but IMHO, if you are a serious mobile hunter, it’s hard to beat LW. Another investment most mobile hunters need to make is fitness. I don’t know many overweight or out of shape noble hunters.
@SufferingOutdoors
@SufferingOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree! Don’t let your fitness limit how far you are willing to go or how mobile you can be. The deer have too many advantages as it is.

Great video! I feel like the tree stand makers have really forgot about the people that utilize climbers. Hard to find a good lightweight climber anymore.
@SufferingOutdoors
@SufferingOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. There is still a place for climbers. If we had some companies step in and put the same resources into developing lighter and better climbers as hangons, I think we would have some really amazing stands.
@evanclough4124
@evanclough4124 5 ай бұрын
So true wth man all these hangons but I think it’s because a lot of states are strict on trimming and/or don’t have a lot of straight trees. Don’t get me wrong the new hangons are badass and tempting and I DO have a saddle now but I’m in MA and there is sooo many straight trees and also not a big deal trimming the small shit in your way so I wish badly to see more light light climbers

Great video! Thanks. I have had one for about ten years now. I never used it because of fear. After watching this video I am going to try it for the first time. But I think I will go up and down about 10 feet several times to make sure I feel safe first. I will watch this video several more times before I try it for real. What harness do you recommend to use? Thanks again.
@SufferingOutdoors
@SufferingOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I'm glad the video helped. Just take your time and don't rush. You will get more and more comfortable as you use it. The harness I use is here. I would say it is a lot better than what generally comes with a stand. amzn.to/46k7of8

I also switched to a saddle. I miss how quickly I could get up a tree and set up compared to hanging sticks in a saddle, but with carrying camera gear it was a must. I don’t miss it!

I have probably the same stand. Lone wolf assault hand climber 2. I do find the seat a little uncomfortable during longer sits. What seat cushion do you have on yours? Been trying to find good options. Thanks!
@SufferingOutdoors
@SufferingOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
It was a gorilla seat cushion, I’m not sure if they make them any more so it might be hard to find. Not sure if XOP or anyone sells replacement cushions.

Speaking of not getting stuff hung up, reverse you straps so the belts are down, you won't get them snagged that way
@SufferingOutdoors
@SufferingOutdoors Жыл бұрын
When I first started with the stand I had them that way. I have a lot of mountain laurel and they seemed to get hung up / caught in that. I also didn’t like the belts touching the back of my legs. I liked it better up top but understand that is just my personal preference.
