those hard earned stress levels are gonna dissipate into thin air with that great hall. as food and rooms get better, it becomes harder and harder to stress your dupes. soon you will do stuff like put a battery in their bedroom/bathroom to negate the room morale boni. then waterlock them, so they always get sopping wet every morning. build them a mess table outside of the great hall to negate the +6 morale and the -10% stress relief from the pleasant chitchat (talking during lunchtime is a no no for stressed dupes) morale from food really is the biggest problem, because you want everyone to eat the same food, so you gotta help yourself with the stuff mentioned above. picking 3 duress to impress dupes as starter dupes is a lot of fun tho, once the stress gets rolling, productivity goes through the roof

the problem is down time, Dupes will try to go to the printing pod after they eat/shower... i had the same problem when using atmo suits... put a small rec room at the end of each Dupes bed room

Hey Brothgar, you also need a gas canister emptier for oxygen. In Space Out, when masks or suits wore out, it drops on the floor for dupes to bring it to the appropriate stations to repair it but its oxygen content also drops on the floor as a gas canister. So maybe put some gas canister emptiers next to the pumps in your oxygen production facilities :)

Hi Brothgar, just wanted to say I'm loving this series. It got me started playing again for the first time since the Spaced out DLC came out. I like having a nature reserve outside my dup's bedrooms, bathroom, and great Hall. It's a great way to get a moral bonus.

If you *really* want to stress Lerda out, construct her bedroom so it's on the other side of a liquid lock, over-pressurize the room so they get popped eardrums, and stick a shine bug or two in there. End result? She goes to be sopping wet (+20% per cycle stress), popped eardrums (another +20% per cycle.) and then the shine bug will give her dead tired debuff as well. She'll be stressed in no time at all. Well, that and to kill decor, put heavy-wat wire (doesn't have to connect to anything) on each tile in their room. that's -25 decor per wire point! :D

was thinking the same thing. Throwing a buffer or filter in there so that the hydrogen generator and reservoir are on the output side would would split the 2 automation circuits but still allow the battery to activate the hydrogen generator

Yup, that kind of defeats the purpose of not burning too much coal. @Brothgar Another good way to reduce the coal consumption is to have two smart batteries with the same high threshold but a different lower threshold. This way, it can start the hydrogen generator first and if it sufficient to handle the power draw, the coal generator won't even turn on. If the power draw is too high for the hydrogen generator, the coal generator will start as the batteries keep going down. The only issue with this setup is that you have to "sync" your batteries at first so they exactly have the same amount of power but this can be done easily with a manual generator or two :)

Im really glad you started a new playthrough, but this last patch is bad... I don't think these are spoilers, but with this latest patch you can't use the big power cables with solar panels. Also the heavy watt conductive cables require electrical engineering skill to build. That took me a long time to figure out why cables weren't being built. Many of the mods broke. And the oil biome is more difficult with a lot more zombie plants. Almost every other empty area has a plant.

That Duress to Impress trait doesn't seem as productive as it might've suggested for me, since your stressed out dupe loses out on productivity for not only having to spend more time on the massage table, but having to constantly waste time taking deep stress-suppressing breaths, and slowly stomping around the place in frustration.

Awesome progression! Have you ever done a playthrough where you can't use vents, geysers or resources from the printing pod? On Oassisse in vanilla that would be quite a challenge with a limited amount of water. You would have to build water positive systems. (Or have a dub do it on the floor). Oil wells would be allowed. Also, cycle 125 tomorrow. I got to keep up.

Duress to Impress seems a little bit impractical from this video...if they're at 60% it becomes so easy to get to 100% in like 2 or 3 cycles without a lot of intervention from massage tables etc. And getting that kind of intervention quickly cancels out the +7 benefit. Also it really seems like the "global oxygen mask" system (so dupes wear a mask whenever they're not in their apartment) just doesn't really work properly, unless you're doing the cheese strat where dupes just don't breathe. It looks like it ends up with a kind of crazy amount of additional downtime due to dupes getting trapped in their apartment, and doesn't really conserve oxygen. It could potentially be useful with extremely rapid digging type playstyle (such that the "main cavity" of the base is so huge that pressurizing all of it is expensive). But you don't generally do that, so it seems like it's just strictly better to stick with the usual "pressurize your base and wear atmo suits outside the base" approach.

I think your oxygen masks are not working because of the doors. If dupes have to deliver or construct something within 1 horizontal tile of a door and the dupes have to go past the door to complete that delivery or construction task, they'll just get stuck. I first noticed this problem when I put deodorisers next to a solid door. I don't know how to write this in a less confusing and more concise way. 😐

With mealwood, the best thing to do is just make a whole bunch of it. I wouldn't turn it into liceloaf unless you have an overabundance of water though. Mushrooms are really what you wanna go for in the mid game, since they help keep your slime under control and cooking them doesn't take any other ingedients.
