Zayn has an anxiety of performing in big stadiums with massive crowds. he’s been like that since pretty much the beginning but in here not only it is such more bigger stadium, he is also like tired and so yeah he got a little bit of a mixed tired and nervous. poor him but he still smashed his parts 🙌🏼

I always remember how Louis couldn’t find his mic once during that song so Liam and Zayn started singing his part until he got the mic back… it sounded so empty without him. I feel like his voice is just so full. I’m not even making sense rn but I swear it sounded so wrong and didn’t hit as hard. Probably because his voice is naturally SO high and bright, he sings with so much emotion. Also, that time when Harry was sick backstage and the rest of the boys didn’t know the lyrics for Harry’s part except for Louis, so Louis took over and his voice was like, deeper than usual for Harry’s part, then he switched effortlessly back to his voice once it was his part. I remember Zayn and Liam watching him go off and their reactions were hilarious! Especially Zayn was SHOCKED!

San Siro wasn't the largest stadium they played on that tour (2 nights), Wembley Stadium takes 10k more and they did 4 nights there. Zayn always appeared that way due to his anxiety, he was never a showman, but he was accepted for what he was, a damn good vocalist. He is actually very shy. One of the beauties of One Direction was the different personalities along with the richness of the different vocal sounds together. Groups usually have all much the same with maybe a more prominent lead person. Zayn hasn't toured since and no longer doesn't do live shows, I guess it's even harder to do when not having the others around you.

Zayn enjoyed his time with the band and boys, he just has anxiety from singing to such a big crowd. Even now if you put him by himself in such a packed stadium he might look even more out of it than he was when the boys were around him. They grabbed part of the attention from the crowd instead of it all being focused on just Zayn.

I think it's good to remember how much anxiety Zayn has, it's really hard for him to be on stage, so that's pretty incredible what he can do live when he overcomes his stage fright! I love Louis’s part and that it’s so prominent. Rare thing. He was harmonizing with Liam tho. Zayn rocked that ending. I love the rock feel and love watching This performance. The song is from their second album. Great reaction! Zayn was never the most energetic on stage. His shyness and later the anxiety must have been a very difficult thing to combat. I’d say it was the huge stadium tour that made it worse. This concert was June 2014, so about mid way for that tour. Zayn has said he was at his worst in November 2014. He left March 2015. If you look at the road to SAN Siro and the bts he was much more energetic and seemed to enjoy himself.

This performance in enough itself was absolutely iconic. I actually had never heard this song before. I didn’t fall in love with the song, but I absolutely fell in love with watching them perform it. Like you I love the parts that Louis got to harmonize in the background and he actually had some beautiful solo parts in the song. Niall strutting around like he was saying I’m bad I almost felt like it was because he was out there playing the electric guitar which made him feel more like a bad ass! I’m really starting to feel the people that heard One Direction on the radio but never dealt further into watching concert material and videos really missed out on what One Direction was really about and how incredibly talented they really are! i don't know if you already do this, but for the songs where you listen to live performances, i would also suggest listening to the studio version- they obviously have a lot of great live performances (especially from san siro), but sometimes the crowd gets really loud or the boys change certain things (which can be really good but still isn't like the original), so i think it would be nice if for this kind of song you also listen to the studio version to really hear the song
