Next to the Mediterranean waters of the Costa del Sol in Malaga, there is a large territory favorable for the cultivation of sugar cane. In the mid-19th century, a series of processing industries were created around this product that gained further momentum with the loss of the island of Cuba and the subsequent difficulties in importing sugar. Resisting the attacks of progress and new technologies, in 2002 the last “ingenuities” that supplied this sweet product to the demand of a large market were still active, like a living museum.
